New PC build help

Here Guys: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18371076

On the motherboard, not to keen on ASrock myself, though the brand is quite popular, id rather pick up the Gigabyte Z77 D3H (non-SLI) or the Z77X D3H (SLI) :)

I do like the styling of the Asrock but with your sensible trousers on the gigabyte mobos make more sense, the Asrock extreme were one of the first batch of Z77 mobos so its quite "old". The Z77X D3H is the best alternative as it supports SLi/Xfire like the Asrock. The GB mobos also have a 3 year uk based warranty and a dual Bios as a safety feature.

Get the Z77-D3H not the DS3H dude! WHat case do you have? If it has a front 3.5 inch bay you could add THIS for the mem cards it also has a usb3 port

Generally all round better board, more voltage control in the BIOS when overclocking and setting up the ram.

Heatsink on the CPU components.

All true. It also has support for the lucidMVP software. This will switch between the IGP and a dedicated GPU as needed to save power. During gaming the IGP can boost the dedicated GPU.....handy if you are using a older GPU

Thanks you sold me it LOL
Think the biggest decision left is the GFX card I'm open to a second hand one but also one that can play games but I'm certainly not a serious gamer

If you can find a 1GB 460 or a 6850 2nd hand they are still capable cards and better than any GPU you can buy new for £100 until you hit the 2Gb 7850 at £150.

I would favour the 460, I own one myself. My EVGA I have OC'd to 900mhz and the new nvidia drivers have provided a nice little boost to the performance. As it's nvidia you get CUDA support which plenty of software suites can utilise, so £50ish to play games and it also "boosts" the CPU in some tasks is a pretty sweet deal ;)

EVGA Nvidia GTX460 SuperClocked 1GB 192-Bit GDDR5 Graphics Card found this for about £100

Similar to what I have (mine has the 256bit mem interface). Is that new? 2nd hand should ind examples half that price. To be honest, if you buy new, I really would try and get the GB 2GB 7850 windforce as it comes with games maybe that help you justify the extra cost?
