New PC build

each of the connectors in my hand is split from the connector plugged in to the gpu
just to confirm it looks like this?

Code:
    cable -------------------> PCIE --> GPU
                                         spare connector flopping about

    cable -------------------> PCIE --> GPU
                                         spare connector flopping about

if it is, then try flipping the gpu bios switch to bios 2

I’ll try that after dinner, yeah that’s what it looks like, does it matter that it’s the 6 with 2 clipped to the side? I did have a look at the connectors on of the cables and some only have 7 instead of 8, but don’t have a wire going into the 8th pinhole either
I thought I’d taken a photo off the error but I haven’t, i saved the error log so will check and report back, never had this much issue with a new build before it’s beyond frustrating, I’ve ran another gaming benchmark tool at 4K and it runs no problem, it’s just normal gaming and furmark that’s killed it so far

i think i know what the problem is. just need a pic of the face of your PSU where all the connectors are to confirm if what i'm thinking is right.

use the shortest connector to connect. the longer extension, just leave it flopping about.

Mate, that’s fixed it, I feel tremendously stupid and somehow feel it’s justified at the same time, to me logic say says 1/1 rather than 1/2

When I get paid again, I’ll send you money for a pint, thank you so much!

np mate. happy to help ;)

i did go back through the thread. seems i totally missed that you posted you got the whisper m rather than the formula. i was under the impression you just got all the parts as previously specced.
would have got to the bottom of the issue a few hours earlier! :(

but yeah. vga 1 uses rail 3, and vga 2 uses rail 4.
vega can pull a lot of current to trip the overcurrent protection if solely running on one rail, so that's why you need to run each pcie cable in different rails.

i would, however, still strongly recommend that you rma the ram though. else you will get random crashes if windows tries to use the bit that has the error.

Well done.

And pic of how you currently have them:

I'd be inclined to run Memtest again once the RAM sticks are in the optimal configuration. Never know.
