New PC build

Pretty much what was listed the first time, 2600 with vega 56
Went with with aorus b450 board instead though, looks nicer in the system, or at least it will when it’s in
Same ram, same SSD

It’s currently in bits, unsure whether the gpu or psu is at fault

The gpu spins in bios and boot, then it passes the Windows splash screen and they stop

Neither, like I say I’ve taken it all apart again, going to try and get a stronger psu to test tomorrow so can get pics then, all the temps look absolutely fine and aren’t even warm to touch

650w is sufficient. i doubt it's a psu problem.

bitfenix formula splits their 12v rail into 4:
Power Distribution
12V1
ATX, Peripheral, SATA
12V2 CPU
12V3 VGA1
12V4 VGA2

i suspect that when you connected both PCIE cables to the GPU it was from the same rail - thereby tripping the overcurrent protection.
also, did you definitely plug in the ATX 8 pin connector to the mobo too?

No, I’ve used both supplied 8 pin connectors and both slots on the psu too, I’d read that vega cards can be iffy otherwise
Ah ok.
First of all, (has to be asked) your 8pin CPU connector is plugged in right?
Again, care to provide a pic of the internals? It honestly makes helping you a lot easier. Mid air diagnosis over the internet is hard enough.
Then run memtest to exclude a ram issue
If then the above is all ok, we need to find out which component is causing the issue. So:
1) run prime 95 and see if it shuts off
2) irrespective of whether (1) passes or fails, run furmark

If (1) fails and (2) passes, it's a CPU/CPU power issue
If (1) passes and (2) fails, it's a gpu/gpu power issue
If both (1) and (2) fails then it's likely a PSU issue.

Cool, I’ve just hooked it all up again so will take photos and get them up, in regards to furmark it just won’t work, I see the image for about a half second then it shuts down

Right, so furmark is running at the 720 preset, but cuts off on 1440 preset, would that indicate that it’s a power problem? Sorting mentest now

Edit, it’s doing it on 720 now too

@fruman23 on radeon settings, set the fan to full speed and try running furmark again?

also please answer the previous question:

when it shuts down? does your computer need a hard cycle (ie, power cable out, wait a few secs, plug in then reboot)?
when you say full power reboot do you mean just simply pressing the power on button or needing to take the kettle lead out as well?

Yeah i need to take the kettle lead out and cut all power to the board , I’m just waiting on memtest finishing then I’ll try the fan speed again
