New PC

Hey All,

Order went through fine and has been packaged up so I must have got the last NZXT Phantom 410 case in Black! Will certainly post pictures up once it's done :)! Looking forward to my first full complete build :D! Only ever modded my current one!

Hey All :)

Thought I'd give a little update really, I spent a few days working on the PC, building it up slowly as it was also my mums birthday that weekend so was out abit! It's nice to really get an understanding of the PC I've found while building it, I've learnt a huge amount from the build so much so, I'm cleaning my old computer completely out and hopefully building some form of media centre for the house :D! I also even learnt a lot about cable management as I focused on that once I knew it could power on :D!

The computer seems to be working perfectly, less than 10 seconds to boot up and on restart about 0.5 seconds (I've never seen anything like it!) All parts I think are running fine? I need to double check the GPU though as on occasions (3 times out of 50 youtube videos +) I got a quick black screen before going back to normal but only happened on a specific time on those videos, so will test that with a game or something! Not played any games yet as I need to setup a few things first but hopefully there's nothing wrong with the GPU!

So I'll put some pictures up once my racing rig is set back up and you can see for yourself :)!

Cheers for all the help with this though it's been awesome!

Download CPU-Z and post some screeshots of the various tabs.

Will upload the tabs once I get home! I did load the program up last night and continued to do my normal thing to see what it shows and my whole computer crashed on 1 video at a certain point. I restarted watched the same video without it on and I got a black screen (Only for a moment) in the exact same place it crashed so I'm slightly worried! Although after some googling it seems that much longer harder crashes on this GPU have happened to others, I'm assuming if I load a game up it will do the longer harder crash on a black screen!

But will upload the tabs later? On a side note is the software meant to automatically go to the R290 rather than the onboard graphics card as I have to keep changing it in the menu?

Hey All,

Here's the information;

CPU-Z Tabs;

My GPU Driver;

Once the GPU is sorted as it seems to be doing it a little bit more now, I'll be reverting back to a windows 7 look as I really do hate the look of windows 8.1 (Love the performance though)! Any help with the black screen would be awesome.

Pictures soon of the setup to :D!

Well your RAM is running at 1333MHz (666x2).

So try enabling XMP profile in the advanced memory section.

Also update the boards BIOS by downloading the latest from Gigabyte, extracting the file and placing on a USB stick and then within the BIOS click on Qflash and update from the drive.

You may want to do this as when the CPIU is underload the Vcore CPU-Z reports maybe a lot higher than it actually needs.

TO see what Vcore the board is feeding your CPU, keep CPU-Z open on the frequency section that shows the Vcore and try running Cinebench R15 or something along side and see what the Vcore value jumps upto.

O wow, how did I not notice that! I'll do as instructed and let you know how I get on after work tomorrow!

Cheers for the help!

Hey,

Quick question I've never done a QFlash and reading up on it, it does seem very risky. Is it worth while doing in this case with the ram not performing?

Cheers,

The PC is stable right?

I.E its not crashed or anything?

If the answer is YES, then Qflash is the safest way to flash the BIOS.

Definitely stable it's only crashed the once during a video, but other than that it hasn't. Do I go straight to the latest version of do I have to do it version by version? I'm currently on F3 and F6 is the latest.

Cheers,

Hey Stulid,

Cheers for all your help so far, it's been mega! Q Flash worked successfully, I assume the motherboard was reading temperature a bit high as the instant I re-checked it after the Flash it had dropped 10C!

With regards to Vcore;

Before Cinebench R15 - CPU run

During Cinebench R15 - CPU run

Is that looking a bit better do you think?

Cheers,

Well you've helped stulid, so I'm very appreciative, motherboard and vcore are something I'm very new to!

Just done a little CPU test as I was worried about cooling, everything seems great from this :D!

So will finish setting up my racing area and post pictures :D! (Not sure whether this would be better in the project area now?)

Not even 70C max, absolutely noting to be worried about with that.

I'm at 80C max when running Cinebench or ASUS realbench. But that is at 4.7GHz and with a ES CPU its not as good as retail.
