new Quest 2 competitor coming soon!!

Finally got it.

No problems with the hardware, just won't spot steam vr in the linking app. Everything is connected and working, it seems there's a problem with the path pointing toward the install. Reddit tells me to make sure it's installed under programmes x86, doesn't seem to work.

*edit

All working now, seemingly required a cold reboot. Audio seems weird after using off ear index/g2 for 3 years, but that aside nothing else, there's no differential to using the g2. happy buy i think so far.

Have to say i thought a lot of what you wrote was hyperbolic stretching, i wasn't expecting to agree with what you said about the Pico. Right now it would be the one to recommend to anyone looking at getting in to sim racing, more specifically Assetto Competizione. To get my G2 running nice with ACC, i have to jump over to composite, and butcher the eng file to the point of it looks better on the Index on default settings. The pico's natural res makes the engine/game look good like the G2, but without those compromises. I was able to hold it at 90 frames just on the default VR high settings on a 30 strong grid around Imola last night, mostly what inspired to come here and agree with you, and give the ringing endorsement as this is the one to get right now.

You're pretty much spot on about the rest of it too. The comfort is there, the display is hard to to spot the difference in sharpness between it and the G2, and it plays nice in dark conditions. Hard to believe that id be recommending this as the one to get if the primary goal is PCVR, i thought it'd be the third level of redundancy to what i already own. For £410 it's absolutely that, cheaper than the G2, the only thing you miss is the audio. Off ear speakers on the G2/Index dump from a great height over everything else, headphone quality audio without the friction.

The box does stink, you were right about that too.
