New Recycling Bins

********* I'm fuming....

We're getting Wheelie bins in a couple of months :(

You do not know how angry I am. Being in a Terraced house I'll either have to leave them out front or wheel them through the house on collection day. What do you guys do ?

Bins live out front the house, same as all the other terraced houses in my area.

Don't you have front garden?

Also be thankfully your getting wheelie bin, we've just got half sized wheelie bin, to encourage us to recycle. All though, most stuff is recyclable now.

Yes we do and this is the point. I bought on this road as all the houses are round bayed, original Georgian front doors and the road looks quite nice. Wheelie bins are going to make it look ****

We recycle exceptionally well... For a family of 4 just 1 black bin per week and twice as much recycling ... and to reward us we get this ****

They tried to collect ours from the front for the first few weeks (this was a while back) then realized that it really wasn't working, so now they do it from the back (no, not that ;)). Makes it much easier.

Yeah no back here, this is London remember... packed in like ******* sardines.

We have 4 bins here in Sth Manc

Black - general rubbish
Brown - garden waste
Green - Plastics
Blue - paper/cardboard

Normall street tbh, it'll be like most other streets in uk with wheelie bins. You can always nock up a little wood cupboard for them to go in.

In the rest of the UK yes where houses are half the price and more spacious. London however is a cesspit unless you've got a few million in the kitty for something a bit bigger

i have a:

Big Brown wheelie bin for garden waste
Big Black wheelie bin for normal waste
Small Blue Box for metals and plastic
Small Green Box for card and paper
Small Black Box for glass
Smaller Brown Box with 2 little boxes in them for food waste which we have to buy stuff to line it with...

getting silly now!!

oh and they all get picked up by a separate diesel hungry lorry! to show how "green" they are being...

Got some weird coloured ones but don't use them, just stick everything in the black one with the cat litter poured on top so no one will search it to see if its correct ^^

I quite like separating my rubbish, but then I know my council recycles it and it's all collected separately. Paper and food go in their own bins, plastic, glass and metal goes in one bin and is separated at the plant, landfill goes into the dustbin. It works better as we're in flats with communal bins downstairs, admittedly.

Grey bin for general waste.
Black bin for garden waste (cuttings etc, no soil).
Black box for recycling.
Grey box for food waste.

Grey/Black bins emptied on alternate weeks, recycling/food waste boxes emptied weekly.

We have:

1 Green bin for general waste
1 Blue bin for plastic and cardboard/paper
1 Black box for glass

Live in a small block of flats (3 floors).

They've just simplified ours so now we've got

1 big black bin that all recycling goes into, no need to sort. Collected every 2 weeks.
1 smaller brown bin that all general waste goes in. Collected weekly.
1 green bin for garden waste. Collected every 2 weeks.
1 small green container for food wast. Collected weekly.

We only really use the black and brown bins.
