Well my recent attempt at creating a spec saw me aiming far to high for my requirements so I turn over the ropes to the pro's!

Basically I need everything bar a mouse, as I have a G9 which I still really like.

I don't want a monitor bigger than 23" really as I sit fairly close.

Also I would like it aimed towards playing FPS mainly BF3, possibly a bit of Diablo III as well though.

Oh and price, I can go up to 1600 really but cheaper would be better, also should I get a copy of Win 7 64 or go for the Win 8 free option I kind of heard about reading through other things?

Many thanks

Nick

This looks quite a bit better than what I initially specced tbh. Forgot to say though I have about 4 internal HDD's hanging about and a 2tb usb3 external so it would be a SSD I would want.

Also on that basket is it worth paying a little extra for an i7 cpu and getting a blue ray drive aswell?

For the i7 it's only worth it if you do a lot of photo/video editing and rendering, it's only advantage over the i5 is that it has hyperthreading, which isn't used in games. You could look at a more expensive cooler if you really wanted to push your overclock, what case are you looking at?

I reckon that could be the one thanks tjlld! I might just upgrade the ram though and change the case as I prefer matt finishes :D

I would presonally bump the cpu cooler up aswell. maybe to the below (its on sale and has top notch reviews)

You said budget was 1600, once youve picked case, i would also look at getting all the fans for the case and creating a nice airflow through it. might just be me though.

Edit*

want to get an awesome cpu cooler below would be good

Yeah I know when I had the antec 900 there was a lot of fans in it so I might just go with the 902 again as its just the upgrade.

That cooler looks pretty sweet to be fair!

With that set up am I looking at running bf3 on max with good fps?

Yes 670 should get around 75 FPS average on max at 1080p and around 100 FPS with no anti aliasing.
That's without overclocking, with a good overclock on the 670 you can probably get around 85fps on max and 110 FPS with no anti aliasing.
Remember you can see up to 120fps on that 120hz monitor I speced you so it should be super smooth.

i like RJCs build a lot
2 minor things would be altho that case is good value for money i think maybe something like a R4 is worth the extra
and i duno if them dvds are quiet, sony ones are meant to be, i hate a noisy dvd so much i wont have a dvd drive in my system

Forgive my ignorance but is the R4 a case? if so who is made by? Also will prob go for a Blue Ray anyway as I foresee the need for one!

YOUR BASKET
1 x Fractal Design Define R4 Midi Tower Case - Black Pearl £99.98
Total : £111.08 (includes shipping : £9.25).

40pounds more but i think its 40pounds more case

blurays are not any more quiet
maybe these drives are a pet hate of mine but they are horrible they spin up when looking through your files its another thing when booting they make stupid noises, they should just go die ><

Read the original post please nipnosis said he didn't want a monitor larger than 23".

I would recommend a 120hz monitor if you are really into fps games because it makes game play so much smoother. Without it you cannot see over 60fps.
I put a blue ray drive in just because you said you might want one as well. Bear in mind that it does cost £39 extra.
Our builds give you the option to add another 670 in the future. If you do not want this option then you could save around £60 by getting a cheaper motherboard and a smaller power supply.
I would personally recommend the Z9+ case. Its really good value for money with 4 fans, a temp sensor, and a fan controller. A Z11 costs more, has 5 fans and no temp sensor or fan controller.

Yeah pretty much nailed it with what you have said here mate. I like the fact there is an option to add another GC.

Many thanks again for all the options though pretty sure I can make a well informed decision now
