Good to see you Oxford. I see your still keeping the MK4 in mint condition. Must be all the stuff you are using and tips from UK-MKIVs ;-)

Lol, and you mate..

I am still a bit of a detailing queer at times !LOL

Not using the forum as much anymore mind, just not enough time!

very envious of your new motor :D

Black for the win :D

Mk5 GTis are v nice though ;)

Thanks for all the info , Just getting the final spec prepared

GTI 5 Door DSG
Diamond black,
Black Leather,
Hi-line computer
Xenons if not standard.

Now just need to find a broker who will be able to offer it for 22K or under :) (and a short Lead time of 8 weeks)

for what its worth, 5 door golfs seem to have better residule values than similarly spec'd 3 doors. At least, that was the case on mk4s.

DONT FORGET THE CENTRE ARMREST!!!!

I was quite impressed with the new Golf GTI, my only real comment is that if I wanted a car with that short a powerband, I'd buy a diesel and get decent fuel economy to go with it. It's a pretty good drive though, at least as far as I could try it out.

Wouldn't mind having a go in the DSG version either.

I've got them on my mk5. Love them on the motorway but are a real pain around town if changing gear a lot.
Same in my A3, always put the armrest up when driving around town and only lower it for motorway cruising.

lol that armrest is the most ill thought out piece of moronic design Ive ever come across. Whats the point of having an armrest where you cant really change gear properly ?? Thats on the Mk4 that is as I have driven the Mk5

You are right on my MK4 it was terrible, but on the MK5 its perfect!
