new skynet challenge

I'm loving the team spirit here and, regardless of the outcome, I'm proud to have been a part of it and I'm looking forward to future challenges - in any project. I've been getting a bit bored recently but taking part in these challenges is a lot of fun and has rejuvenated my interest in DC projects again. Bring them on :D

Very much agreed. Whatever happens this is fun :)

That is until I see my next electric bill

Meanwhile in the world of trying to find anything I can lay my hands on I'm resurrecting an ancient Q6600. The challenge here seems to be finding a keyboard that it will recognise as the BIOS on this ancient Abit motherboard doesnt seem to like USB ......

Have you gone into the bios? isn't it usb legacy or something that needs to be on? i had a q6600 years ago and I'm sure there was some usb setting like that which needed to be on, might just say usb on boot, can't remember.

It's running now. All part of the challenge :)

Anyone got any air con to spare. Getting rather warm in this room with the overclocked i7 2600k, the 4P rig, the lappy and now the Q6600.

hmm, it would appear desperation has set in over at evga. They've resorted to canvassing people who are "flying solo" in the skynet project in the hope of some recruitment. :(

Had hoped to bring 24 more cores online but motherboard not arrived and I'm waiting on ddr3 as well:(

I do have two q6600 that I could resurrect tomorrow.

Not really it just means we are willing to spend a bit more on the leccy to support a team event like this, its totally different than running all your rigs 24/7 365.

Also pogs is pretty unique in that it uses CPU only, it gives some more flexibility to the situation.

I think its been a good little battle but with the number cores they have is insane, every time somebody else jumps in to help them its not just 4 /8 cores its 32 / 48 lol

We're still managing to hold them off. Gap has widened slightly to nearly 280k. Keep it up guys, we might just do this :)

I'm looking into this, looks like i'll bring my 4930k to team OcUK :P

Good man :) Since we took the lead they have thrown a lot of hardware at the project but we've managed to hold them off so far but we need to keep up the pressure.

I've just remembered I have an old machine I got from my neighbour under the stairs. Can't remember what the CPU is (old and slow iirc) but I'll get it dug out later (once the hangover clears a bit :o) and fire it up.

folding is good but I think little challenges like this DEFFANTLY keep it interesting & fun. keeps everybody on there toes

Yeah have to admit I'm having a lot of fun with this so far I'll definitely be in the next one from the start. Think I've got the spare parts for a core 2 duo rig at home I'll try getting that set up tonight.

Dare I say I've actually found this challenge rather exciting, I feel like I'm at the last fence of the Grand National and I'm at the front ! (edit: On a very small horse)

Geekdom !

I'm just sorry I couldn't have had my home rigs running before time runs out.
