New slimmer PS2 to hit the UK in 2008

Sum might say that sony should focus on the ps3 but why eliminate a nice revenue generator that is the ps2. When the slim came out you should have seen the number of people who traded in the ps2 brick for the slim.

ps2 sales are not hurting the ps3. Its price and a limited back catalogue of PS3 games that are hurting.

ps ps3 hurting = 360

....... while their main console continues to do nothing for them.

6 million and counting before the main yearly selling period is "continueing to do nothing for them" hmmm ok

Figures show around 6m sold since launch and 75,000 - 100,000 per week since price cuts (supposedly sales rather than shipped)

The thing that makes me laugh though (and all three companies do this) they say that they have shipped 9m in a lifetime of 10 months and yet expect to ship another 12 million in the next quarter - I mean, who are they kidding, to sell 1 1/2 as many machines again in 1/2 the time (even including Xmas) is just loony land isnt it?

Since backwards compatibility of PS2 is going out the window (It requires a ridiculous amount of cpu power to emulate it), I think this is why they are making a smaller new one.

Edit: I would buy one after I have a PS3 40GB.
