New socket set

As suspected, the carry case is too wide for the drawers, also too deep for the standard depth drawers. The smaller 170 / 150 / 120 piece sets may fit but I'd suspect depth would still be an issue.

Here's pics of the trays. They fit snug with respect to width, leaving a bit of room length ways. I'm intending on using a thin wooden filler block at the back to prevent them moving whilst also being able to store things at the back of the drawer.

not too bad, but I'll think use the supplied case as storage on a seperate shelf (or ontop of the drawers) as already have the drawers full of tools

I went for the red/black halfords 7 & 5 drawer. Got them for a good price, and on 0% finance.

Just a quick heads up... you can pick up the 200 piece black edition set for £127.50 using promo code WORK15 (needs to be in caps)

This is even cheaper than trade discount.

The code works for other stuff too although some kit is cheaper using trade card.

Brilliant! Just what I needed. Ordered :)

probably, but the pro are a lot better than the cheap blue and red/red ones. For home user I'd say pro are good choice, black ones for someone who uses tools everyday.

Replaced the 7 drawer Pro in my work van today with a 6 Drawer Industrial, very noticeable difference in quality

Trade card made the purchase quite easy on the wallet too

I like mine too.

P.S If you don't like the way the drawers open / lock as standard i.e. having to open the top chest lid first to open the drawers, it's easy to dremel the mechanism off. I did mine a couple of weekends ago, took 10 mins. You lose the ability to lock the drawer but gain the ability to open them without first having to open the top chest.

I do find the 7 drawer (because it's not as deep) to be as smooth as the 5 drawer. It'll do for my own use but I think if I was using the tool cabinet for more probably would have gone for the black one. Fine for home user though.

THere is a way to bypass the lock, what you want to do is open the lid, open all drawers, then close the lid then close all drawers. That pushes the catch back but not so it goes so far as into the locking mechanism

sometimes they have the two or three units in a special offer, it may have been better to wait for that. I think the 5 and 7 drawer pro was availalbe at £200, prior to my discount

Id have liked both but I don't have the height to play with. I had to rearrange some shelving and racking to gain a couple of inches in height to fit the 6 Drawer Industrial in

I'm not too fussed about being able to open the drawers without lifting the lid, I have it organized with my most used tools under the lid
