New SSD Boot Loader Problem

I’m a little confused as to why when I boot my shiny new SSD machine the Windows boot loader screen appears…. But only sometimes.

Everything seemed to work fine until I was reinstalling my Adobe CS3 package and I realised I had forgotten to deactivate the license on the old build. No problems! I just shutdown, whipped the SSD connection off the board along with the data drive I have also. i Then attached and booted the machine from my old WD Raptor. I deactivated CS3, shutdown again and re-attached the SSD and data drive all back to the same SATA sockets they came from. I was then presented with the boot loader asking which OS I wanted to boot from. Eh what?

I checked BIOS settings, booted again and Windows 7 loaded fine.

However, it now randomly stops at the boot loader and asks which OS I want to boot, even though there is only one option to choose from. BUT THE CONFUSING THING IS THAT IT DOESN'T ALWAYS DO IT.

Any suggestions?

Totally Baffled.

Thanks for any help suggestions

People have said it's a good Idea to install SSD's with your other hard drives disconnected, I've noticed Windows putting boot files on secondary drives in the past, maybe this is what's happening.

To get rid of the boot menu, type "msconfig" into the search box on the start menu, run it and click the "Boot" tab, you should be able to delete the secondary boot option there.

Not much help to you.

But I did exactly the same thing as you. Though the boot loader screen only appeared once. On subsequent power on of the PC it booted fine and has been for about a month now.

So I will also be interested to hear if anyone has an explanation.

EDIT. Only suggestion would be that there is some hang over in the BIOS (feel free to shoot this theory down folks... only guessing). You could try removing the CMOS battery for a while and then re-booting.
