hi all, just got my crucial c300 and had a go at installing w7 on it, ive done everything fine, trim is enabled, changed from ide etc and im running from the ssd now, only problem is im running in sata 3gbps instead of sata 6, i tried connecting it to one of the two ports and when i power on it goes through the bios check, detects ram etc and ssd but then goes to a black screen.

what have i done wrong and how can i fix it?

this is an atto test from it too..
(sorry the pic is huge)

thanks all =)

Sounds to me like the SSD is being picky about the port its on, by that i mean some hate being moved from the port they where installed on.

Mine was like that and would not find the Win7 install if i moved it to a new port.

So before we do anything drastic, make sure to use a sata3 cable with the sata 3 port and ssd. If that dos'nt help then we may need to connect it up to the sata 3 port and do a fresh install.

Now this may not be needed, so i would wait for some more replies first before doing anything.

Ok sounds like its just not playing ball when u move it over to a new port then, and windows may need to be installed whilst its hooked up to the sata 3 port.

But i will be the first to admit im no expert on this, so defiantly wait for more input.

kk i though that might be the problem, like i said i changed all settings in bios etc before i installed, i think i still had my hdd's hooked up when i installed too.

hi, they where all on ahci when i installed the ssd, afterwards i updated the mobo bios to the newer version, when i did that it set all things back to ide so i changed them again, but that was after i already had the ssd working.

Mmm defiantly sounds like it just doesn't like getting moved once installed like mine, wish i knew a definitive answer for u, forums a bit slow today, hopefully someone will be able to come in and help better soon.

Have you enabled the marvel controller?

Also - my motherboard is VERY picky about what order you list the Hard drives in the bios. My ssd is plugged into Sata 0 and my storage drive is plugged into Sata 1. Yet in the bios, my sata drive has to be HD1 and my SSD HD2 for windows to boot.

i think i have yes, when i was messing around with where to plug it in though it reinstalled or recognised the drivers for the sata ports and couldnt find the marvell controller one? my mobo is Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4
