NEW STEAM DEALS!!!!

I'm thinking of the same. Already have SoC, but if CS comes up real cheap then I'll leap. My poor weak mind.

I don't want to rush into buying a load of stuff which could just turn out to be unused tat when tommorow and the coming weeks there could be a lot better deals

Don't talk yourself into getting something just because you feel you should, it is an easy trap to fall into ;)

Not quite sure what that means dirtydog. Is that just for Riddick? Being that it was steam I thought it didn't have DRM. Suppose my ignorance is no excuse. :p
That was my point really - Steam games usually do just use Steam for their copy protection and nothing else. But this game evidently uses another system which sounds rather more awkward doesn't it. The simplicity of Steam is one of its strengths for me, which is why I would be put off buying that particular game from Steam :)

I'm holding out hope that GTA will run well. I have been told that I should be able to run it at medium-high at 1280x1024 and I might be able to push the resolution up to my normal 1440x900. Do you think thats feasible on this system? Specs:

E2180 running at 3GHz
2GB DDR2 PC6400 memory (theres usually about 1.6GB free when I'm at desktop with nothing open or running etc)
Radeon HD 3850 256MB
Windows XP 32-bit

Thanks.

Medium/high will be physically impossible because of lack of video RAM. You will be restricted to low texture detail I think you'll find. Even on my 512MB card I can't select higher than medium. (I don't just mean it's slow - I mean the game physically stops you from selecting the higher settings altogether.)

Hmmmm. I might have to buy a new graphics card then with my Christmas money. What do you recommend at the moment? Like, whats the current bestseller bang for buck card? Oh, one question, will a new card be bottlenecked by my current CPU?

I mean, if I don't need to upgrade anything other than my GPU I don't mind as it saves me money. But if I do need to upgrade the memory to 4GB and get a quad-core CPU I will do.

Indeed it uses TAGES, this can easily be installed and uninstalled from your system with the tool available on the TAGES site.

I have it and was considering buying it on steam but it's "Indigo Prophecy" and my hardcopy is "Fahrenheit" - I'm just wondering if it's the censored version they are selling on Steam :(

It is the censored version. A shame but iirc it won't affect too much. I bought it earlier as I can't find my copy of Fahrenheit :o :(

This Steam sale has been perfect for me, just as I've got back into PC gaming :D

Steam needs a wish list feature where I can store those games that look good prices until I decide whether to jump or not.

For now I am keeping myself to the daily deals, the others will still be there in a fortnight after all.

GTA4 & Defence Grid.

I notice that Overlord is down to 2.99. Its got some good reviews, anybody played it?

Do either of the Stalker games work on Windows 7?
I was told only one of them even worked on Vista?

Thanks
Andrew
