Im tempted to get Defense Grid, just unsure as to how it works? Can anyone force my hand?

It's a tower defence game. I really like it. You place different kinds of towers on fixed slots but in some levels you are able to shape the path of the enemy so they don't necessarily travel on a fixed path. Well worth losing one pint over.

Hmmmm. I might have to buy a new graphics card then with my Christmas money. What do you recommend at the moment? Like, whats the current bestseller bang for buck card? Oh, one question, will a new card be bottlenecked by my current CPU?

I mean, if I don't need to upgrade anything other than my GPU I don't mind as it saves me money. But if I do need to upgrade the memory to 4GB and get a quad-core CPU I will do.

I'm not up on graphics cards I'm afraid so I couldn't offer any definitive advice on which one to get. Even with a good one, as you suspect, your dual core CPU would still be a limiting factor in this game which needs quad core to run at its best.

Yes, this is the problem. I just bought Broken Sword III and it looks like tripe compared to when I last played it. I seem to notice even more now such things as aliasing and low-res textures after the modern day games we are spoiled with.

Gah, this is going to take centuries to download, I'm getting like 30KB/s now for some reason. 15GB at 30KB/s...

You guys getting low speeds should switch region, or get TCPView from Microsoft's website. Just run it (doesn't need installing) in administrator mode, set Steam downloading, and right click in the TCPView and close the TCP connections for Steam and it'll restart it's downloads using another server. I often do it when I get low speeds and it often helps massively. Like today downloading Beyond Good and Evil, was at around 90 - 110 kb/s, then use TCPView and it went to about 4x that.

set your steam locations to say like germany as speeds are quicker! was getting 2mb/s when i downloaded my games earlier !

Aww no! I just got paid today, and I was so looking forward to eating until the end of January. Now there's another daily-changing list of awesome discounts, and my bank balance is gonna take a pounding. What did I do to deserve this?
