DOD:S worth getting for that price?

I assume its a dead duck now then in terms of Online MP? - I fancy a shooter, and although I could reinstall CSS I fancy a different scene, maps, gameplay etc

Well, a) yes it's worth getting, and b) it's still played a a lot. Definitely provides a decent alternative to CSS.

How hard is Hearts of Iron? I would like a strategy game that is more complex than usual but i have to face that my brain has never been too fantastic at strategy games, and i enjoy something like E:TW because of the research trees and economic management as much as the combat itself.

No, its a game from the Grand Strategy subgenre of strategy gaming. Like Europa Universalis series, or the boardgame Advanced Third Reich.

To the guy who asked what it's about:

It's kind of a 3rd person shooter, as you are trapped on a big derelict ship infested with really freaky aliens. It's very atmospheric, wuith lots of people rating iit as the scariest game they've ever played.

A word of warning - lots of people have mouse speed problems, but if you have a game pad, or switch VSync off, they are usually sorted.
