Does a Studio 17 qualify?

Guys im having a real nightmare with Dell

The idiots sent me an email to say they had a problem with the credit card but failed to mention what it was that was wrong.

I had to ring up and explain to one of their call centre staff that I had recieved this email and that we had a problem. It took a good 10 minute to explain to them that we didn't want to place an order but were rining with a problem!! That said they had issues that day with their credit card machine and that they would process it again :confused: confirmed that all details were correct and the order went through.

Rang the credit card company just to make sure they hadn't blocked it which they hadn't.

Tonight I get an email to say that because we hadn't contacted them they have cancelled the order :mad:

Just phoned up again and can't for the life of me explain the situation. Does anyone know a working english number I can use?

Dont the Dell's come from Ireland?
When i bought a Dell on ebay it was through Dell in Ireland and i spoke to an Irish woman in sales....this was a few years ago though and i dont have the number anymore but it might be worth a google.

Dell closed the irish factories and moved them to Poland.

None of my pcs have ever had games on them.

That said, I suppose something like the sims might be ok :confused:

I've got a 4670 in my XPS 16 and it handles a lot of games fine - was playing Resident Evil 5 quite happily - hell, even Crysis is playable
 
i had a problem with dell and my card and abbey said i'd entered an incorrect expiry date. i chatted to nitin on the chat and sorted it all out. mine should be here by 24th nov.

What you do is go through quidco and search for "N0074509" on the dell site which is the product code for the laptop, should show up then.
 
Mine didnt go through automatically, I had to open a ticket. I couldnt do this until after I had received the laptop but it was simple and the money came through a month later
 
ok, having a **** time with dell's del dates and customer service. they have put my order back to the 15th dec. need a laptop asap. i am now looking elsewhere.

what is a good replacement, i know it won't be I7 cpu but i want a big machine. are acers good or shall i get the samsungs in pc pro? if i wait till the never never i will get 8% goodwill gesture from dell. taking cost of new machine to £700.

budget of £700.
 
well the sales guy on chat promised me the laptop on or before the 24th nov before i ordered it. i ordered it based on that. to cut a long story short, i emailed them, chatted and basically made him say he lied as it was the pc saying the date and they changed it to the 15th dec which is no good as im going away. i then had there manager say if you don't like it tough, cancel in as many words. so i email boomed the chief execs etc and the next day the same manager called saying 'in response to your email'. she offered £30 good will first but then changed to 8% after my moaning. basically, the customer serv manager will call me and update me on the 1st dec and tell me if its coming. then i will have the option to cancel or get a similar specced machine sent out. looking for another similar that i can get as i just know it wont be here. aparently 5 core items are out of stock. mine high priority now.
 
Dell seemed to have really dropped the ball lately. I realise they can have stock issues but looking on other forums there are a lot of unhappy people with very long EDD's.

I have a 6 week wait on a 1745 because I ordered a blue lid even though they had a special offer on the lid (why put it on special if there is such a long lead time!)

I would cancel and order from someone else but I cannot find an equal specified machine for a similar price :(
 
okay ive finaly decided to get one, gonna order it tonight, the base spec.
How do i get the 5%quidco discount? ive never used quidco before

okay i ordered it yesterday and my delivery date is 4/1/2010!
A months wait for the base spec is just too much, hopefully theyll change the date to an earlier time

i very much doubt it. they said 25th to me so its obviously gone up due to xmas.

i am so tempted to get the acer 18.4 bad boy now for £700 as i can get a extended acer 3 yr warranty for £60 to. and the lappy will be here next wk.
 
Which model acer? I had the 8935g (1080p screen, ati 4670, 4gb blueray) the screen was so poor I sold it.
I would definately recommend you see it in person before buying
