Hi,
I've recently bought parts to build a new pc (first ever build) and I've put everything together but been experiencing a few issues with it.
Here is what I've bought
Gigabyte GA-X48T-DQ6 Intel X48 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 LGA775 'Yorkfield' 2.83GHz 12MB-cache (1333FSB) Processor - Retail
Corsair 4GB DDR3 DHX 1333C9DHX Twin3X (2x2GB) (TW3X4G1333C9DHX)
Netgear WG311T 108Mbps Wireless Desktop PCI Network Adapter
Western Digital Caviar Blue 250GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (WD2500AAKS)
Samsung TS-H653B/DEBH 20x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM
Antec Twelve Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case
Antec Quattro 1000W PSU
Along with that lot I also got the keyboard, monitor and Windows XP (Vista isn't ready for a couple of the programs I use on my PC.
As far as I'm aware (I checked before hand) that all the parts are compatible with each other so I shouldn't think its that (but I could be wrong).
I put together the cpu onto the mobo, added the ram, connected the graphics card and wifi card onto it and hooked up the power. I added one HD and the dvd drive. After which I powered up or at least tried to. The computer started, things whirred into action but within 10 - 30 seconds the power had died on me and so the process repeated. I sought advice from a friend who advised to remove the DVD drive and try again. I did so and managed to get the bios menu. I reset, connected the DVD drive and booted again. It worked so I formatted my HD, installed windows, got my wifi card working and eventually got all the additional drivers windows was asking for.
I thought everything was ok so hooked up a few of the fans from the case but when I restarted the same start, restart happened. I took off the fans again but still it wouldn't get through to windows.
After that I went back to basics, with just the HD, graphics card ram and cpu connected. it started. I went to the bios to load fail safe settings, reset and it was ok for about an hour or so, so hooked up the DVD drive, that was ok, reset went into bios load fail safe settings. reset and back into windows. no problem. the following day I started the pc up and it went back to the start, restart not being able to reach the bios screen at all.
So I thought a simple removal of the DVD to get back to the basic set up would work but it didn't. I haven't been able to get back to the bios screen or into windows since and thats about a week now.
Since this is the first build I've done I'm not too sure where to begin with trying to solve this issue and ultimately get my PC working again.
