I was wondering why the server I was playing on went down just, seems like Valve have just pushed a new map out over the last few minutes. I'm updating at the moment so I don't have any details but it's called CTF_Well which would seem to suggest it's a CTF version of CP_Well, I don't know how that will work but we'll see shortly.

Here are the patch notes:

Steam said:
Team Fortress 2

Added new capture the flag map CTF_Well

Added Spanish map descriptions

Added new option to auto-save a scoreboard screenshot at the end of a map to the Multiplayer->Advanced dialog

Added more particle optimizations for mid range and low end hardware

Updated CP_GravelPit to fix all known exploits and changed the scoring method to score per capture rather than per round

Updated "nextlevel" CVAR to trigger a changelevel at the end of the current round (not mini-round)

Fixed SourceTV demo recording problem

Fixed mp_stalemate_enable not preventing Sudden Death mode on some maps

Fixed a couple cases where player stats were not being recorded correctly

Fixed some log entries being truncated

Fixed crash caused by trying to import a custom player spray

Removed the "Reset Stats" button from the Player Stats screen

Makes me feel like Valve are making maps to hopefully stop us asking about where the new maps are!

This was my thought too, I don't think this is one of the "real" new maps Valve are making because this is esentially a modification of an existing map, hopefully they are hard at work on some new maps.

I have been playing some half decent fan maps recently, CP_LazyTown is a nice one although it can go on for ages, also CTF_HallOfDeath is a very basic map but really fun.

Plus CP has two modes, the first is attack and defend where one team has to defend the control points. The defending team has 1 minute to setup defences on the control points whilst the attackers are held behind a gate. The attackers must capture points before they can capture the final control point. This is how CP_Dustbowl and CP_Gravelpit work

Ther second mode is similar but it's more of a free for all, both teams start with the one or more capture points and compete for the central control point. Both teams have to defend their own points whilst trying to capture the enemies and push ahead. This is how CP_Well and CP_Granary work.

Anyone played Convoy. I know its a bit carp but I quite like it.

Just played this for the first time last night, pretty good, well designed considering it's based on the UT 2004 map. I played Face which was crap because it was esentially a direct copy of the UT map but convoy is actually well designed for a TF2 map.
