New TF2 CTF Map released!

i really don't like 2fort either! i've had a couple of fun games on it but the majority i've really not enjoyed. i tend to find myself playing dustbowl most of the time. i've a couple of random questions though:

1. how do the stats on your own personal page work? does it only update when you have a complete round? i got 40+ points last night with an engineer yet according to my stats i have a max of 7??

2. what is a complete round?

3. when you discover a spy and start shooting him, is he only revealed as a spy when he dies or after you shoot him loads of times?

edit another one:
4. what's this hlxstats or whatever all about?

I've had some stat oddities too, like my maximum sentry kills staying at 9 even though I've beaten that numerous times and even have the sentry 10 kill achievement!

Spies are not revealed when you shoot them - they don't even bleed. Spies are hardcore.

I've been playing CTF battle creek over the last couple days. It offers something different to the official TF2 maps, nice and open, and is a hoot! Theres a 24/7 UK based server out there.

1. Stats are PER life. Not per round. Unless you got 40 points without dying, then there's an error.
2. A round is complete when it says blue/red wins and displays the top 3 players.
3. Spies aren't discovered until they fire(thus removing their disguise) or you kill them. Blood can be seen on walls behind them if you shoot them close enough to one.
4. hlxstats is a server plugin which records your stats. Often the server will have a webpage somewhere where you can see your ranking on that server. Not very useful unless you play on the same server all the time.

It is a good map :) works well and nice and simple. You should try out some of the other CTF maps on my server :)

ctf_turbine_v3 is a very well thought out map, will get back after a 4 week break from TF2 (building New Computer) ;)

Such a horrible looking map :( and the open ground sucks :P gives all the advantage to noob snipers and scouts who sprint around spamming their shotgun at you :P

Floodzone is cool. I know lots bitch about snipers but then theres plenty of maps where the snipers become a pain. Least its reasonably easy to get a spy right up to their front door and take them all out :)

Its fun being a engie, getting on top of the wall, running into the other teams side, hide behind one of the big oil drums and set up a tele and sentry. Doesn't last too long but very good for making that important push.

With Convoy if you get good engies, you can set up a tele entrance near the bumper of the other team with the exit in your trucks cabin. As long as you get some weapons to destroy the sentry and whoever is in thier cab, drop in from their roof, pick up the intel and use the tele back home, have a cup of tea and wait for it all to blow over. :)

Floodzone :( another badly made map :P

Middle point is a massive chokepoint and nobody wins unless one team gets bored and leaves >.>

This is true. Hence why its so funny when you put a tele over thier side and harrass the heck out of them.

Played one map only briefly which was like an old version of Doom and nobody liked it. Another which was apparently from Golden Eye or summat but I didn't like that either.

There was a CTF map which had two buildings either side and a metal bridge between the two over water. There is an area near the intel with rockets as scenery. You can hide a tele there and doesn't take much to set up a sentry. Very amusing when they think they are almost home to find the other team has a sentry in their intel room.

Plus CP has two modes, the first is attack and defend where one team has to defend the control points. The defending team has 1 minute to setup defences on the control points whilst the attackers are held behind a gate. The attackers must capture points before they can capture the final control point. This is how CP_Dustbowl and CP_Gravelpit work

Ther second mode is similar but it's more of a free for all, both teams start with the one or more capture points and compete for the central control point. Both teams have to defend their own points whilst trying to capture the enemies and push ahead. This is how CP_Well and CP_Granary work.

Hate maps that last forever and are too sniper friendly :P Floodzone is both lol :(

Anyone played Convoy. I know its a bit carp but I quite like it.

Just played this for the first time last night, pretty good, well designed considering it's based on the UT 2004 map. I played Face which was crap because it was esentially a direct copy of the UT map but convoy is actually well designed for a TF2 map.

Fileplanet just released their own map pack :)

Some goodies in there like Mach and Impact :) 2fortifications is good too but rather large and no healthpacks :(

Some dubious maps in there though like that Mariokart one and Warehouse :(
