NEW Titan Pascal (full 3840 shaders) just announced!

On another subject there was nothing to stop NVidia launching a fully enabled Maxwell Ti card using all the cores on the chip just like they did with Kepler and the 780 Ti.

They only did that with Kepler because they needed to out perform the 290x which on average matched the good 780's and original Titan. With them both being different core count Keplers they had nowhere to go but with the fully unlocked big Kepler. So they released the Ti and not too long after that the Titan Black.

Fairly certain people just said that about the 1080ti? ;)
Life is short and people show too much loyalty to businesses. If you can afford one, go for it but I genuinely can't this time. PC's are fun and a hobby for many of us but all this nonsense about fanboy rants and 'I refuse to buy because of blah blah blah' is just bloody silly. We only get one go at life and you can't take it with ya, so chill and have beer.

Exactly.

NVidia will release fully enabled cards if they have to.

Eh? whose ranting? lol wtf Greg, take your advice buddy :) i merely said im sure people said exactly what you said about the 1080ti? not sure how that implies im a fanboy or ranting? odd... stressful day at work mate?

I never said you was ranting lol and wasn't aimed at you or anyone in particular but a general observance of how people are at times.

I won't ever pay that for a card especially when the GAINS are so minimal these day's!
I would rather wait for 1080 TI future price drops and take my chance with SLI!!

You do come across as 'rant-like' sometimes Si :)

Well yeah i do sometimes :) but i wasnt then lol, and besides even though i dislike Nvidia i do buy their products hahah, i got a Zotac 1070 Amp Extreme in my PC right now and i cant honestly fault it at all, havent even bothered overclocking it as it runs so well.

Unlikely. This card wont get many sales full stop, regardless of what Vega is, let alone a lo of the people buying at the high end will be well aware of vega.

I agree but every new sale it does get is one less Vega can get, They've saturated the market by tempting people with 4 different high end cards now, Trying to get every single sale they can squeezed out of this generations market before Vega gets here.

This card is for marketing purposes and to rub more dirt in to AMD. When Vega is launched and reviewed there will likely be a stack of Nvidia cards that appear faster (2x Titans, 1080-ti). If Nvidia really had some accurate information that vega would be way faster then Nvidia first line of attack would be to cut prices once Vega was launched.

That's when launched, But doing this now is them trying to tempt the last of the hold outs who still have nothing but rumours to go on regarding Vega.

They would have also not released the 1080ti or TXP2, but made a respin of the Pascal to try and squeeze out a little more performance and release a tweaked version where core clocks are pushed higher (at the sacrifice of overclocking headroom),

Haven't they already done that with Pascal? I doubt theres any more in the tank hence why these are getting the last available cores and faster memory.

Releasing vanila pascal chips seems to suggest they aren't worried about vega. Doesn't mean Vega will be bad, just that it wont leave their card in the dust. Something that competes with the 1080 and is a bit cheaper is fine for Nvidia, they will just watch sales figures and decide if a price cut is needed down the raod

It could also mean that they know that the more sales they get now the less sales Vega will get, even if it is around or even ahead of it, Aren't Nvidia pushing 1080 prices back up soon too?

There's always going to be more than one possible reason for doing what they do and any of them could be right.

Really? How have they?

I have literally just bought a 1080Ti and really don't care that they have released this TXPp and nor should anyone unless they are interested in buying.
the only thing thats shady is not releasing them together.

We have a new 1080Ti & A Titan XP

of course 1080ti users can send them back, but thats pretty annoying apporach

Makes no sense what so ever. there are things Nvidia can do if they know vega is faster, and that would most likely involve not releasing the current ti and TXP2.

No, the 1080ti and TXP are the same stepping as the original TXP. The Pascal cards overclock very well so they could eaisly released higher clocked cards, even if margins reduced slightly.

It could also mean that they know that the more sales they get now the less sales Vega will get, even if it is around or even ahead of it, Aren't Nvidia pushing 1080 prices back up soon too?
1080 rices dropped because sales figures lowered after initial uptake, the 1080 has been out sometime already. This made more space for a 1080ti at a price that Nvidia experts determined would maximize profits. there is currently no competition to the 1080, so the price changes have absolutely nothing to do with AMD.

There's always going to be more than one possible reason for doing what they do and any of them could be right.
The only reason Nvidia or any company does anything is to maximize profits. Releasing yet more variants of Pascal generates more sales.

Note, Im not saying Vega wont be good, far form it. I'm just saying that what Nvidia is doing has nothing to do with AMD at this point in time.

EDIT; and if Vega is monstrously faster than the 1080/ti then this will be great for consumers. Nvidia will cit prices and will try and fast track Volta, Something on TSM12nm by Q3. I'm fairly sure Vega will be in the right ballpark, but being a significant evolution of GCN I'm also certain drivers will not let it's true potential be known for some time, by whch point Volta will definitely be in contention.
