NEW Titan Pascal (full 3840 shaders) just announced!

doubt it. they just want milk

Well that too but I think they most likely released this as a last ditch attempt to keep the performance crown. It's getting closer to Vega's release and they maybe they know by now that the flagship card will be ahead of the Titan X, so they've released this in an attempt to reduce the deficit between their flagship and AMD's flagship. Being on the top of the benchmarks is like a trophy for them.

Or you know they saw an opportunity to make even more money.

Madness... What a mad line up 10 series has become...

Nvidia has to be shaken by Vega am sure they know the truth on its performance too be releasing these so close to the Ti

When the last Titan released? I did not expect this at all.

To be fair they did this with the OG Titan family also. Cut down titan launched initially 780Ti came in and basically killed the OG Titan then the released the black with full cuda core count. Similar in this case though also, 1080Ti comes out and while it does not handily outperform the TX (original) does have faster memory / same cuda count and price kills off the current pascal titan in all regards. This will put it back on top handily for those who want the best. Also yields have likely improved so chips can be siphoned off into this card.

In a way they likely had these chips anyways with better yields and the quadro not needing them all, with the upgraded 1080Ti PCB, just shove the full chip onto that and charge an extra £500.

So bet there is a few who bought the 1080 then just bought the 1080TI and now going to order the new titan, are you a cow now because there is some serious milking going on.

This^

Nvidia know something about vega that we don't? Vega must be a monster:eek:

this new titan is barely 10% faster than 1080Ti, if Vega was faster than Ti Nvidia would have made this XP chip as the Ti, especialy with the price XP is at.
the more likely to me is :
1- AMD holds Vega card super tight, and Nvidia doesn't know much, so they are just tired of waiting, and their new line up is getting closer, so they just release what they have.
2- Nvidia knows Vega's performance, and it's not great, so nvidia goes ahead and release what they have to burry AMD behind in performance as much as they can. <--- most likely one, Nvidia wont give AMD a free marketing plot, by releasing a 1500$ card barely faster than 600$ vega., especialy after intel/ryzen debacle.

Why? Is this just not similar to what high-end car manufacturers do all the time by just releasing a slightly more powerful version of the same model.

AMD defence force.....assemble :p

No need to insult people!

But I doubt it. If people wnated a Titan they would have purchased the TXP1. The fact they purchased a 1080 and only then upgraded to the affordable 1080ti would indicate such buyers wouldn't purchase the TXP2.

the most likely buyers of the TXP2 are liekly people with a lot of money who already purchased the firs TXP1 They want the best of the best and don't worry about money.

Think about it. If FuryX crossfire is almost 1080ti level when crossfire scales properly, imagine if the same FuryX could clock to 1500MHz.

If VEGA is just double the performance of Fiji at the same clockspeed it would match a 1080Ti.

However with the new NCU architecture there are some major improvements.

AMD's footnotes for this slide provided some exact information on how much better geometry throughput is expected to be. It reads: "Data based on AMD Engineering design of Vega. Radeon Fury X has 4 geometry engines and a peak of 4 polygons per clock. Vega is designed to handle up to 11 polygons per clock with 4 geometry engines." Even allowing for inevitable efficiency losses, Vega should be able to deliver on that 2x throughput figure.

Now add clockspeed of over 1500MHz to the equation and we have a seriously powerful card.

It's speculation and I doubt it will beat the new TitanXP but anything is possible.

Shock, horror as corporation tries to maximise profits for its shareholders

Gotta get that money back after they were Downgraded two days ago. :p

Pacific Crest analyst Michael McConnell lowered his rating on Nvidia to underweight from sector weight on concerns about market saturation in desktop graphics processors and a possible pause in data-center chip sales.

Nvidia stock plunged 7% to close at 100.78 on the stock market today. That undercuts the stock's 50-day moving average, a key technical support level, of 107.14.

Nvidia stock could fall to 90 in a downside scenario, McConnell said.

Nv are just following the same path as all the other Titans from Keplar onwards'
The only difference now is the new price point!!

RIP TXP users. Having been poled twice now :p

Suprised at this but kind of expected it to be honest.

However the last TXP was £1189, out of my price range. So god only knows how much this will cost.

Not even NVidia are expecting to sell a lot of the new Titans in light of the 1080 Ti launch.

If you check out their website you are free to buy as many as you like unlike with the original Pascal Titan where buyers were limited to 2 per household.

2 per customer on US site
