ive just purchased a network media player and cant seem to get it to see files on my pc.

so i have my wireless router which has a lead going to my pc and one going to my media player.

what settings do i have to enable to use the media player to access my pc ?

do i have to create a folder juts for sharing files to my media player.

i have read some guides but still unsure what i need to do.

ive managed to get my media player to see my pc but i cant seem to share any files for the media player ?

any ideas please people ?

Does your network media player run Windows Media Center?
If so you need to configure Windows Media Center on your PC to work with the media centre and allow sharing.

the media player dosent use windows media player (as far as i know).

ill have a look at the settings on windows media player and have a play.

people said it was easy setting up a network....been at it 4 hours now :)

sorry i meant centre, never used it before either so thats new to me as well.

the media player ive got is this one Emprex ME1-V2 High Def Network Media Player Recorder

cant update the firmware as i dont have a flash pen !

still havent a clue how to set up my pc to share files to the emprex player !

what am i doing wrong guys as this has taken me 6 hours now and im no closer to getting it to work correctly.

running vista 64 if thats any help.

OH, I assumed you were running Windows 7.
Since i'm using Vista X64 as well, i'll help you out.

Direct yourself to the network and sharing centre.
Enable Network Discovery.
Enable File Sharing.
Enable Public Folder Sharing.
Enable Printer Sharing & Media Sharing.

Now; where it has your network, click customize. Change this to Private Network.
Reboot your PC.
Disable your Anti-Virus Firewall. Unless there is seriously something wrong, this should work perfectly. It's most likely your firewall blocking the incoming connections.

It happend all the time on my 360. It's hard to help when you're giving us as little information as possible, on what you've tried etc, is it showing in the list of computers and devices etc...

With the PlayOn AC Ryan range you have to now turn the function on in the options menu on the player itself.

If there is firmware available to upgrade I suggest you do that first and then come back to tell us you have done it.

mine isnt a playon ac ryan media player (i wish it was though)
