The first time I washed my suede Sambas they lost half their colour. I'd avoid it if possible.

Considering you're not supposed to get suede wet ever if at all possible I'd say the wash is a bad idea.

OK. So how to I keep the suede parts clean? A brush? Doesn't seem to do much with marks (rather than a bit of dry mud or something).

You can get a special 'suede brush', should do the trick.
