My first pair of Asics arrived today. Gel Lyte III . Have to say, they are perhaps one of the most comfortable shoes I have got.

May pick up the Premium Nubuck Pack ones too now I know I like them.

Bought a pair of these Adidas Samba yesterday, before i take them back for a smaller size i thought i'd check here first. 10 minutes of use and have bloody blisters on back of both ankles where the highest point is, is this normal for Sambas these days and just need broken in?

I'm thinking they are perhaps slightly too big which is causing the friction, I bought a size bigger than i normally do as i recall having to do that years ago (10+) the last time i had a pair.

What trainers do you guys wear in the gym?
I have a cheap pair and hate them for deadlifts, shoulder press etc as I feel like they put my weight on the ball of my feet/toes instead of the heel. I tried on a pair of Nike Free Trainer 3.0 v3 and liked them, regret not picking them up at £60.00 now I've seen the price online.
Anything else I should look at? Part of me thinks a crossfit type may do a job, but looking for suggestions?

Remember the days when NB weren't cool? Could never be seen in a pair of NB's back in the day.

Now every man and his dog has them.

Who honestly cares about fashion when it comes to trainers? I don't wear trainers when I'm not running, etc, so I find it weird that people view trainers as fashion items. They're a tool, no?

It's kind of weird that people buy expensive trainers to walk around town. It's kind of missing the point of them.

do people still tie their laces behind their tongues like that?

I use the Free Trainer 3.0 V3. They are not a running shoe.
you ideally want a flat shoe for training in as the sole is totally flat. they are very comfortable and perfect for the gym.

The majority of trainers are TERRIBLE for running if they weren't designed for it, so most of them are bought as a fashion piece.. just like most clothing.

Cheers, was eyeing poeple last night and a few at my gym wearing what appeared to be them, or something very similar.
"I don't do running" so having running shoe doesn't bother me.

Absolutely missing the point. Not all trainers are for running. Running in a pair of air Max 90 would be a nightmare. The majority if trainers are exactly as you say, casual shoes. 'Trainers' or "sneakers' is an all encompassing term that covers everything from Jordan's, dunks, superstars, sambas, am90s etc etc. And you wouldn't want to go for a run in any of those shoes.

I wouldn't go and spend hundreds of pounds on a pair of brogues or a loafer. Simply because I don't like them and have very little reason to wear a formal shoe. Conversely I don't find it strange that people do spend big money on a formal shoe. (Which ironically would be just as good for running in as the majority of the trainers I own)

I do personally, looks more neater and I'm less likely to myself trip over, being an old boy :D

Oh man, a tied lace is so much neater looking. They are a slim shoe and would look 100% better tied up properly.
Tongues sticking out is very 1998 :p
