I am looking to upgrade my PC in the new year as spent my budget on a home cinema audio setup last month :D

Current spec:

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) @4.2Ghz
16GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual
XFX ATI Radeon 6950 flashed to 6970
Intel 520 Series Solid-State Drive 240 GB
MSI P67A-GD65 Intel P67 (socket 1155)
Corsair HX 620W
Dell UltraSharp 2209WA 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor

Upgrade:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus VG278HE 27" TRUE 144Hz 3D Widescreen LED Monitor - Black £379.99
1 x Sapphire Radeon R9 290 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £329.99
1 x Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £249.95
Total : £959.93 (includes shipping : FREE).

Will my power supply be enough to handle the upgrade?

Any recommendations on my upgrade?

Thanks.

yes I would go to atleast a good 750w psu to make sure your psu wasn't working its hardest all the time, also getting a non reference cooler is sort of a must as everyone says these cards run HOT

If you are not upgrading until the new year, then hopefully the non-reference 290/290X will be out. Should help to alleviate some of the heat issues.

Do P67 motherboards support Ivybridge? You'll obviously need to update the BIOS if it does.

Yeah i wouldn't buy a 290 until aftermarket coolers appear (windforce, ACX ect.) THe 780's are at a good price point if that interests you. :)

Is does support Ivybridge but need to do the BIOS update once i have the new CPU. http://www.msi.com/product/mb/P67A-GD65.html#/?div=BIOS

Are there any dates for when the after market coolers will appear?

I've generally bought ATI since my 8800gtx days so not reallly looked at Nvidia.

If you are going to put a 3770K in that mobo, make sure you update the bios whilst the 2500K is still in.
Mid to late December last I heard for non-reference 290/290x, but then it was supposed to be November. Hopefully the time you get round to buying one, they should be out.

I don't think you can go back once you update to Ivybridge so I believe I need to update with the 2500k present and then switch CPU.

I have no plans to make any purchases before the new year. I will see what deals are on then.

Would I need a better PSU with a similar priced 780?

Your Psu will be fine for a 780.

And save yourself some money and get a 3770K in the MM

I have been looking at MM but they don't appear too often as they are sort after.

OcUK currently has the OEM more expensive than the retail.

780's appear a fair amount more expensive than 290s.

Just bought a 3770K at the weekend. Stick a Wanted thread up and just keep your eye on the For Sale thread.
You might also get a 780 for a decent price, been quite a few lately.
