New watch

ok I'll level with everyone, it's not a real Rolex, my dad has had it for a few months now, his mate bought it in Thailand for about £50, I think it's an excellent copy and I was trying to see if anyone could tell the difference :p
DELETE comment and let Rotty have a look first :p

I thought there was something fishy about it, the casing looks like it's made of cheap pig metal, no wonder it's scratched up so bad.

It still fooled me, although I admit that I know very little about Rolex in particular.

I bet Rotty would have spotted it instantly :D

The likes of me?

You know, for a Don you're being awfully insulting.
I didn't insult you, I was giving my interpretation of his post.

t.

In the pics I think you could due to the scratching, I doubt the real ones scratch like that, I think having a look at in the flesh would make it a lot harder to tell, one of my mates has a real Rolex and he couldn't tell it was fake!

Ohhh you're lying!
You bought that for £5.5k and now everyone has said it was a bad deal, so you had to change your story to look good!

1) It a replica
2) It's a poor replica

It's worth about $50 (USD) max.

To be honest, the average joe wouldn't know even a bad replica if it was in their hands. I like to chuckle when you see a Rolex on TV (CSI and 24 spring to mind) as they're nearly always terrible junk you pick up in china town NYC.

subdial centres too low ( 16520 had lower ones but they are higher on 116520 )

pushers spaced too widely

second hand too short

engraving on back ( ok that could be added later to a real one )

crown not defined enough

index markers too wide

every 1/5 of a second, just the way Rolexs work
In Alan Partridge fashion, the plural of Rolex would be Roleces...

Anyway looks like TC got a bit conned, what with the scratches and all.

Watch geek!:D

I'll stick to my blue Kahuna K1 Classic. Personally I could never justify spending more than £50 on a watch.

Well, I say never, but if it was the Breitling Professional Skyracer (with the blue dial) I may change my mind. :p

spose you'd have to have both side by side as looking at pictures I couldn't tell

the subdial centres are obvious, the bracelet on yours is stamped 116520, the watch model number is not stamped on the bracelet of real Rolex
