If your using windows xp i find the windows messenger that comes with xp doe's the job,i also like the google talk client,it really simple and nice although it doesn't support msn contacts but i think there are a few sleek multi-account client's that are better,like nimbuzz.
 
messenger has always had ads

some internet secuirty packages should take it out...or has for me on the old one...not tried this version yet, I m getting win 7 tomoz so I ll soon tell ya
 
Anyone know how the remote desktop part works now?

I use Live Mesh at home and work to remote onto them, however in the beta is removed Mesh and installed the new version that seem to remove the remote desktop part.

Is this still the case?

I want that version! 2011 sucks can't even have /\/ate as my name have to have a boring real N. You have to span your MSN name across your real name with the two boxes. It's retarded I'm formatting.

Jesus christ can't even talk to people while I appear offline.

I'm not sure, it's the default it took when I installed it. I've just gone into my name editor and now it displays my full name which I can't change back.
 
Why the hell does Microsoft insist on forcing people to upgrade every time they release a worse version of MSN Messenger???? this is garbage!

Imagine if they tried to actually sell it:

"New Windows Live Messenger 2011! Combining all the features that made ICQ great in 1998, but now with 10x the resource usage and 100x the hard drive space required! Buy yours today!"
 
So, like, had anybody found a hack or anything to let you use the older version of messenger? when I try and login using it it gives me that "an update is required to login" crap, my Vista machine logs in fine and my friends with Windows 7 Pirate edition are running fine. Think ill just download a Pirate version of Windows to replace my legit version, stupid Microsoft.......
 
I'm still using the 2009 Version and will not change. The new version look bloated and I have no desire to connect to the evil that is Facebook.

All I want to do is chat with friends - nothing else.

On the new one you cant see whos on your block list or whos added you in privacy settings like the old one :rolleyes:

You can go back to the old version. Uninstall anything relating to Windows Live Messenger and any connectors/add-ins (photo gallery, etc) that it might install.

Give it a reboot and download 2009 from here:

I venemously HATE the new version. :(
 
Has live movie maker progressed in any way? It's got a long way to go before it's comparable to iMovie. I'm saying that and I haven't even used iMovie!
 
Yep, FB contacts working fine here too, disliking Live Mail now though, much as the ribbon is ok why oh why is it so inflexible and unconfigurable?
