New XBMC/Kodi box needed

I have a Matricom G-Box Q and its a great little box but after seeing the Nvidia Shield TV thinking of selling it and upgrading
 
I compared my Shield TV and Pi 2 (heavily overclocked) running Kodi/Openelec at weekend

the Pi 2 is no-where near as quick to use (either in menus or skipping ahead in movies etc) - but the PQ is possibly "marginally" better

both fantastic devices - Pi 2 obviously a lot cheaper
 
Do you know with Openelec is it possible to Run PLEX home theatre client aswell as Kodi as Different applications or would you have to run rasplex or plexmbc within kodi itself, Looking to run both Kodi for my tv shows exc and plex for my own content films and music. Don't like plexmbc interface exc
 
Why would you run plex home theatre in kodi when kodi plus a good skin offers a far superior visual feast.

Plex has its uses, but only on devices that require a transcode stream imho.
 
Thanks for the reply ferret. Thing is all our films are on our HTPC which is in the bedroom we use that as a plex server for the tv downstairs. To stream our films. ive got an Android box but not keen on the plex android app
 
The Android box i use is the T8-V3 from Droidsticks that has the s812 chip and is Quad core. What would you advise id do ferret. But looking at some of them skins they look great
 
Yeah Aeon mq6 is the best skin if you don't mind configuration.

Why not run kodi on your htpc and share your database and file with the Android box. That will give you watched status on each etc..
 
I do have kodi on my HTPC aswell as plex server and plex home theatre as the client. To be honest im new to kodi and plex i didn't know the ins and outs to be honest on what you could do on kodi
 
I like the plex home theatre we use the aeon nox skin. And it looks great. Think we use that cause its easy im not tech savvy im afraid. We did get the plex app on the Android box but don't like the interface exc really plain and boring. But the kodi skins look really nice if i could do that on the Android box it be great. id get rid of plex no problem at all. a lot of my films are mixed 720p DTS and 1080p remuxes with 25-35 gig in size with DTS-HD-MA and couple of TRUE-HD now our soundbase is stereo only would kodi bypass the audio, our soundbase is the canton dm55

nicknack is the problem getting kodi on your android device?
a few notes
kodi has a downmix to stereo option in the settings
have you already setup windows sharing for your media drives on your windows htpc
 
Im looking at the Minix u1. At the moment i have the T8-V3 from droidsticks i do like the thought of going openelec . But im not to sure if the T8-V3 can do the change i know the V2 can but not seen if the s812 can
 
Anybody know of the best way to share my movies from kodi on windows to my android box ive added few of my films to kodi but want to share them over the network to the android box downstairs ive looked on youtube and there is no really good info from windows to android

Sorry mate im lost with all that to much info. Sorry im new to this sort of thing i gone into a drive and shared it but i aint got a clue how to do it on kodi im not sure if im doing it right lolol
