New XCOM announced.

I got 'just a little' excited at the thread title. Xcom returns! WTF!?!;)

Then I discover that it's just going be yet another worthless FPS. I despair. Really. Sigh. :(
I seem top remember the turn-based combat in apocalypse was very badly implemented. I tried and failed to play that way, and ended up going real-time as it was the only way it was playable.

Not a bad game, but nowhere near as good as the first two games.

I really liked Apocalypse, especially after the very slow Terror from the Deep. I'd had my fill of turn-based combat over the years and the move to real time got a big thumbs up from me.

It was no Enemy Unknown, but it really had its moments.

Everything about Enemy Unknown and Terror from the Deep was awesome. They could take that exact game, fix a couple glitches, improve the graphics, make it real time to appeal to the children ;) and make it multiplayer (even if its only random battles or whatever) and they've got my monies.

Its like game developers have never played a game before :/

There was me hoping for some HD tactical Xenomorph probing.
I still play apocalypse to this day.
I dont want an FPS, I want X-com to of found some blueprints for some big stompy robots and motorbikes with chainsaws on.
I am an unhappy boy now.

X-com fps wtf are they thinking?!?! No doubt they are going to make it another crappy clone. I always try to go back to the original but the graphics make my eyes bleed and i end up stopping.

Tempted to give enemy unknown another go now but im going to be dissapointed bah, sc2 it is.

XCom 1 & 2 are still fun to play :p

We've had...3 (?) crappy sequels (afterlight/aftershock/afterbirth) so I don't think another crappy sequel is really going to change much.

Just pretend nothing after TFTD was ever made; works for me :p

Those aren't sequels and are completely different games aside from the turn based part; Personally I thought aftermath and aftershock were excellent games, even better than UFO:EU and TFTD.....

Apocalypse was a good game in theory, but it just felt as if you lacked goals in it, other than declaring war against everyone else and going in with high explosives levelling everything :D

I had thought the next in the series was going to be a combination of UFO:EU and an FPS or TBS, you could play in first person and gun enemies down, or you could put it into third person and play like the old games...I sware I seen it somewhere, but oh well; I guess this'll just suck. :(
