New XJ Launch

Looks utterly superb.

We were given the chance to demo the top-rung 1200-watt, 20-speaker, Wrath of God Bowers & Wilkens 7.1 channel surround system in a static car, and it may be the best factory automotive setup we've ever experienced – even better than the B&O system available in the Audi A8 or the Naim setup in the Bentley Continental. Even if you go with the least expensive audio system, you'll still get CD/DVD functionality, USB connectivity, Sirius, HD Radio and hard drive space for in-car media storage.

:D

Carbon fibre with dove leather I think. Or Jet-semi with CF or piano black on the Supersport please!

Back in 5 minutes, I'm off to count the contents of my small change jar...

Love it and the XF, XK Jaguar bring themselves upto date at last. Almost bought a SV8 earlier but Mrs says I need to wait until start of September :(

I've given it some thought, and it is a defiantly a beautiful car and it is a defiantly a Jaguar. It's quite possibly a great Jaguar.

Is it an XJ, no and it doesn't get close. If you'd beamed the current shape XJ back to the '70s and asked someone what it was they'd know it was an XJ. If you did the same with the new model, I doubt they'd recognise it.

So call it something else and let the legend die gracefully. Don't tarnish it's name with this imposter. It sounds harsh but Jaguar are a company suffering like many others. They need new customers, and they need to make it clear that this is a step away from the past. If this car is to succeed it should not be shackled by pretending to be something it isn't.

I think the old one 'mine' looks better to be brutally honest (I'm not just saying that either, I really do think so), but I still like it a lot. Also I have to say 'oh b*****' mine didn't even get to be 'current' for even a day, I don't get it until tomorrow. Well it was when I bought it I tell ya! ..although you wont see these on the road until the end of the year, the Supercharged won't show up until March 2010.

I actually think the very best looking externally, of the XJ range since it began in 1968 is the X308 XJR and XJ Sport, that ran from, 1997-2003.

This is an X308 XJ

Those wheels are sporty IMO. Sporty wheels have no place on an XJ. It needs multispokes like the ones on the 04 plate one later in the thread.

I really like it,it might not look like the older XJs but at least it looks like the German competition it's up against and thats what metters I think.

I'd have an XJ(possibly L) supersport in ultimate black metallic with black leather and piano black wood!

Tosh, it's gorgeous and exactly what Jag need. To those of you saying it's not an XJ and that it should have followed on from that, people were moaning that the previous model wasn't modern looking enough so they needed a departure this time round and boy have they got it! Jag has a fantastic range now and hopefully this will keep Tata happy enough to keep the autonomy.
