New York City (and a bit of Georgia)

Looks like you grew into the trip as it went on, the photos get better and better as the set goes on imo. The later ones are really capturing NYC for me.

62. This is the photo I went over to get (well, I wanted one at the golden hour too but more reason to go back eh?!) :D.

p.s. damn the compression/Jpeg/banding.

63. This isn't amazing but just want to show Central Park in the dark.

Brilliant as usual, these pretty much sum up my experience of new york and the mental image i have when i think of the place.

Great pics!

Where did you take the landscape shot? When I go over, we sometimes go to the big boss' apartment, which overlooks Central Park many floors up. His monthly rent is the same as my yearly mortgage payments!

Should take my SLR next time!

The night shot was from top of the rock, Rockefeller centre. Bought a Gorillapod purely for that shot, £50 well spent! :D

Thread bump.

Flying to NYC on Friday.

I'm thinking about getting tickets for top of the rock for next Sunday 7pm - meant to be good weather and it is an hour before sunset. I presume that's one of the best time to go in terms of lighting?

P.s. I am contemplating getting one of the various tourist passes available but it looks like those passes won't give me timed entry to the rock or other places, which might mean having to queue if I want a specific time. ANyone know if that's correct?

The towers are tricky as the view is impressive at various times and changes so much with the light. Early morning can be fabulous especially if the haze is still lifting with the added bonus of no queues as Tourists don't like getting up early, obviously sunset is great if the conditions are right and then you really need to go up after dark for the New York skyline by night. Everyone says and they are generally right go up the Rock for the views as you then get to see the Empire State rather than being up the empire state and not having it in your photos. Lot's depends on if you are there for photography or to see and experience lots? If there purely for the photography then book a couple of trips up the rock if not I'd go for Sunset like you've planned as it will give you the great view, great photos and if you hang around an look at nyc by night.

Most importantly enjoy the trip NYC is one of my favourite places and one of very few to make it onto my must actually go back list and not onto me just talk about how nice it would be to go back list

Thanks Alex. I intend to go within the first couple of days, then if it amazes me, I might try to fit in another visit. But I want to see cram in as much as possible!
