I bought a prebuilt system from Ocuk a year ago (spec in sig). The hard drive is now approaching its full capacity and I am looking at buying Seagate Barracuda LP 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache to go in alongside my 500Gb one.

Does it matter if its 32mb cache or 64?

Also, when I install it, do I just plug it into the power cables and plug the spare Sata cable into the motherboard slots and turn it on? Is it that easy to create a 2nd hard drive? Is there any formatting and all that guff required?

I just want the second one for storage of my music and videos and use my original hard drive to hold my games on.

Help would be appreciated please as I am not proficient in this lark.

EDIT: Never mind beaten to it.
Its doesn't matter which hard drive(s) you chose. You can use any hard drive. Newer hard drives come with higher cache.

Yep that is all. Turn your computer on and login to Windows. Your new drive should be detected upon logging in.

yeh just install the HDD plug in the power and sata cables then when u start windows got to

control panel
administrative tools
disc management
if you have done it right the new disk should be there as unpartioned space
right click format
more space
happy :D
