Newbie RAID 0 question - how easy to set up?

I am really interested in setting up RAID 0 on my PC - primarily for speed gains, but partly because I've known about it for ages and fancy having a tinker!

My desktop machine has 2 identical 500GB SATA hard drives (ready for 100% wipe), an Asus P7P55D LGA 1156 motherboard, and I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

Before I start doing my online research into HOW I go about doing this, can anyone with experience of RAID 0 tell me of any major potential problems that I may run into?

Also, any recommended online help guide links would be appreciated!

I am in a similar position as you, as I have two identical drives I tought I would give Raid 0 a go even though all internet threads seem to indicate it offers no benefit whatsoever.

Sadly my requests here for help have fallen on deaf ears, I cannot seem to get a verified driver that Windows 7 will recognise during install, I have a Gigabyte EP45-DS3P with Windows 7 Ultimate and two Sammy F3's and cannot seem to get raid set up?

Edit; I have managed to set up Raid 0, I still get 5.9 on the Windows Index Score, have not noticed any speed benefit, and have had to reduce the overclock as running Raid 0 seems to have affected it and I was getting crashes. On top of that my boot times are way slower than ever.

I will probably now run a single 500gb OS drive with 1tb storage and a 1.5 green for backup.

Noted... maybe I'll just go for that SSD after all then :p
