Hiya, just any parents willing to offer advice,

our 3 month old son very rarely sleeps through the day (very rarely) and is constantly in a foul mood.

when he does fall asleep he wakes himself up within 10 minutes.

On the other hand he’s easier to get to sleep at night then my older son was (now 3) and sleeps till about 5am but during the day he will not have any decent sleeps and the constant crying is becoming unbearable.

all the usual suspects are checked, winded, clean nappy, not hungry etc.

he’s on comfort formula as he has silent reflux and anti colic bottles but we just cant get him to have a decent sleep.

Me and my wife are pretty good swaddlers, i dunno.

Any idea’s?,

Car rides/walks in strollers. If my lad was in a foul mood and winding the missus up, I'd stick him in the car and take him for a ride, he'd be out like a light within 10 minutes everytime.

I know ****** about babies, but my guess:
Body has 2 modes:
- fight or flight
- rest and digest
Your kid isn't in the right mode.
Happens to most adults coz of stress, caffiene, phones, etc.
Examine senses:
Hearing - car noises?
Sight - bright room?
Smell - allergies?
Touch - allergies?
Taste - probably not
And basic functions:
Breathing - allergies?
Digestion - intolerances?

with my kid we just got him in a routine of being put in his cot or whatever and being left alone until he fell asleep.

put in cot, make milk, drink milk, burp and tuck in tight with a blanket
put toni box on and leave him be, if he cried we just left him and he would stop after a few minutes.
sometimes we would check if he had threw his dummy out and wanted it back but nothing more than that.

we had to do all the special baby formulas too or he would always throw up half of it.

some parents stand around watching the kid or pushing it back and forward in a buggy , you don't need to be there until they fall asleep.

if he's tired anyway and you must help then try gently stroking his forehead or eye brows and he should keep hiss eyes closed and fall asleep fast.

btw you could try playing static/rain/womb sounds from youtube

Tonight both you and your partner need to get a t shirt and sleep on top of it so both of your smell soaks into it.

Tomorrow when you put him to sleep take both t shirts and place them either side of his head.

It's the fact that you are putting him to sleep and then deserting him that his survival / abandoned skills kick in.

Make sure there is light white noise on after he's asleep and he's on a proper mattress and not just sleeping wherever.

Hmm, we did toy with the idea of a milk intolerance when we were figuring out his reflux as his mum had one as a baby. Something to look into?

good idea, I’ll definitely try this.

If you are using comfort milk try a different brand.

But milk has little to do with sleep unless they have really bad gas / wind / colic. As long as they aren't hungry they should be regularly napping.

Alternatively you could just take a t shirt you have worn the day before and instead of putting it in the wash use that the following day and then use the one your wearing that day for the following day.

Alternatively just pick a t shirt and sleep on it every night and then use it during the day as a comfort smell when he's sleeping only.
