Newcastle sack Roeder

I'm not surprised Glenn resigned today, he's still a novice manager in a high profile position and he was never going to get them up where they feel they belong.

No matter who they get in, Newcastle will fail under its current regime.

This is just one of many 'shake ups' that have happened in recent years to diffuse the real problems.

Newcastle are a bit of a strange one in that despite spending a lot of money, having big gates and flirting with the top of the league/europe on many occasions, they don't seem able to get the right man for the job.

To be honest since Keegan left the only decent manager they have had is Sir Bobby Robson (Dalglish was past his best), and in their wisdom the board decided to sack him without getting a proper replacement lined up. Allegedly the likes of Bruce, Allardyce etc turned them down so they ended up with Souness, a manager so bad that he was only weeks away from getting sacked at Blackburn.

With Venables and Mclaren now both gone to England, I think Newcastle's options now are Lard Arse or Sven. The former probably won't get many better offers, and the latter will relish all the money the board seem to find lying around. Although arguably the best thing they could do would probably be to tempt George Graham out of retirement and get him to start collecting centrehalves again, as the rest of their team is half decent :)

Long overdue. I said at the time of hiring that he was a bad choice, he's a bad manager.

Allardyce is the better choice (from him or Sven) purely because Allardyce plays football the way Newcastle fans expect them to play. Need we forget Sven is a defensive manager and Sam is one of the best in the Premiership already.

Anyway, short of hiring Glenn Hoddle it's a good thing for Newcastle.

Great news.

Lets hope Shepherd uses a bit of foresight for a change and can bring someone in at the right time with the right resources.

Sven for me over Allardyce , hell Id even have Shearer over Allardyce.
Not keen on big sam at all...

i thought vandle loved long ball sam? :D
:D

It shows the apathy of the fans wanting him in , like saying at least he's not Roeder.
Similar to Roaders appointment - at least he's not Souness.

If it is Sam then so be it and good luck to him , if nothing else he vastly improved Boltons standings in football and given a good budget who knows what he may of achieved.

The link with him seems like its been planned , which is what concerns me that its all a smokescreen.
Planning and foresight are not attributes of NUFC.

I may be completly wrong but I just dont think he will be our next manager.

It annoys me when people call Allardyce out on being a long-ball merchant, yet when Chelsea do it, it's good play.

Chelsea play exactly how Bolton do, except I honestly find Bolton entertaining to watch (I'd say after Manchester United and Arsenal they are my 3rd favourite).

Newcastle would be lucky to get Allardyce, and after rumours say Allardyce turned the Newcastle job down years ago (due to Shearer being present at the interview) it wouldn't surprise me if he got it now that Shearer is out of the way.

*Walks in*

:D :D :D

Although I just hope that Roeder has gone back to the Academy, it is out of order if he has gone from the club completely as just because the first team job was too big for him, doesnt mean he can't continue the good job he has done with the youth teams... :(

EDIT - I don't think Allardyce has played much Long ball football this season, I remember on MOTD they kept showing Bolton and saying;
"Well, it's not long ball...They are passing it as good as anyone else!"

We've been playing long ball all season anyway, just not effectively.

Im not sure who I'd want as manager, if Allardyce gets it, I will certainly be behind him, but I honestly wouldn't mind Big Sam or Sven or Houllier or Hitzfeld.

People on SSN have mentioned;

David O Leary, Chris Coleman, Alan Pardew, Alan Curbishley, Alan Shearer (just not ready), Stuart Pearce, Steve Maclaren.

The worrying thing is, people were emailing in SSN with names like that!!! Unbelievable!!!

Any of those managers bar Curbishley (who I rate in the top 6 Premiership Managers) would be a disaster for Newcastle. Shocking that people would actually recommend them.

To be fair Pearce could be a good bet.

He must be very close to the sack at Citeh , lets jump in with a 1 milllion compensation payment for him and save city the bother.

Ranieri
Sven

Would love to see vanGaul but We have no cance in geting him
Time to look abroad British managers are not good enough

good call on ranieri, i wanted him after souness.

the whole glenn thing is harsh on the man i reckon. he took on a hard job from day 1 and was never really given the resources to bring his own players in and was stuck with souness's cash n carry footballers!

am not saying the injuries are an excuse but if our 2 strikers weren't injured then GR would have used the money he spent on martins on 1-2 defenders to strengthen up the back and that i feel would have made a lot of difference. But its all a case of "what ifs".

unlucky glen son but the fatman and the crapness of our team shafted you over! good luck whatever yah do.
