Newcastle sack Roeder

I'd still prefer someone who I've seen manage in the EPL and has something to prove over a relatively unknown continental option when their motivation for taking the job would be unclear.

Saying on SSN that Gerard Houllier has confirmed interest in the Toon job! and that Svens agent says Sven wants to talk to Newcastle as well.

Don't know about Houllier seems to have done a decient job at Lyon but Liverpool fans seemed to be glad to be shot of him.

Come on Sven

Out of the 3 I'm not really sure who I'd prefer...

I've never been a fan of Sven's tactics while he was running the England squad, but it's possible that he would do things differently at Club level...

I think I'd rather have Sven than Houllier. Houllier inherited a successful team off Paul Le Guen so didn't really have to do much to carry on winning the French title, although he has done well the CL.

Deffo not Houllier...

Sven or Sam, out of them 2... i dont really care who gets it, as long as they stick at it and build.

My initial thought is that in the long run Sam will be better... I just get put off by Sven with the England years.. even though is club record is good.

Both will have to prove the fans over anyways... and the fans are going to have to stick it out for a while because we need a 5year plan, not a 1year plan

I can't understand some of the negative comments about Sam Alardyce tbh. Newcastle fans wax lyrical about the glory days of being the peoples champions under Keegan, The best football they have seen. Ok so you have had a passionate England manager (never mind he was tactically inept) in Keegan and done naff all apart from nearly go out of business. You had the continental manager in Ruud Gullit and done naff all. You had the disciplinarian in Souness and done naff all.

Sam would be an excellent choice to bring stability to the club in the long term. He knows the lower leagues in Europe inside out. So he will bring in some unknowns, never heard of's and some has beens who never were. But you can bet your bottom dollar he will get them playing for the shirt and he will get them organised and defending well. Nor will he stand for any egos in the dressing room. From that you have the foundation of a strong team that you can start attracting some of the bigger flair players.

As for him not knowing his stuff, I think Garry Speed once said the training regime at Bolton has propbably added 3-4 years to his playing career at the very top level. Imagine if he could do that Owen adn Dyer.

Sam Allardyce is proberly going to replace him imo. He seems the most likely of managers and theres been a couple of sources saying he's in talks with them.

What he has achieved at Bolton with little/no cash. Taking them from relegation candidates to top 7 side.

Relegation candidates, I'm sure they were relegated under his tenure, granted he got them back up.

There are other managers who with little money have done well, the point is now can he go on that further step. Having money to spend doesn't guarantee success, the prime example being Newcastle!

He never got them relegated. He first took over and got them promoted via the play offs from the Championship and on it went from there.
