Listening today on the radio, a deal could happen sooner rather than later. If this is true it should be great for geordies Ashley gets his monies and the fans will get an owner who will take them forward the club is great, stadium has good capacity it’s literally player investment

Reports coming out just now that Newcastle's proposed takeover is off. Newcastle are lucky that Everton made their managerial appointment when they did because I could see Benitez walking if a half decent job pops up.

Was the deal even on it is it even off?

It’s all been news from sources from sources.

Why it’s been so public when Mike does all his busisness though his lawyer’s.

There be no takeover while the club top flight status is in doubt and the New TV deal is finalised and that is for sure.

Was the deal on? An offer was made by all accounts and according to PCP it still remains on the table - the issue appears to be that Ashley is asking for more money and or a reported clause linked to relegation to be removed.

The whole relegation thing is what's complicating the deal. While there's a doubt over Newcastle's survival PCP won't pay the value as if Newcastle are an established PL side, equally Ashley will hope that if they stay up then he'll be able to get that extra money. Ashley's rolling the dice in the hope you stay up and he gets his price in the summer and if history is anything to go by then even if you go down, he'll hold on and try to get you promoted again to get that price then.

If this were a realistic possibility then Ashley would have sold by now. Newcastle have been up for sale for years and been relegated twice already in the period, neither time Ashley sold. Ashley's under no financial pressure to sell and he clearly doesn't give a **** about what Newcastle's fans think of him - if they go down he'll just bring them back up and the process will start again.

If he doesn't get his price now then he'll hold on, if they go down then he'll wait 2 years and try again but if they stay up then he's got a much better chance of getting more in just a few months.
