Next best thing to an iPhone

seems like a bit of a random choice tbh

why ? its possibly the only HTC that doesnt look aesthetically rubbish and its running the software you all love

edit - forgot about the legend.

Couldnt go back to apple after moving to a desire, so much more customisable, faster, more features, cheaper, more updates, more apps, you can run a lot of apple apps on the desire now.

i assume you mean the 3gs ? which is close to a year older than the desire ?

anyway the 'next best thing' is any of the newer android handsets but go try them in a shop.

cant believe this threads still going tbh

Its a no brainer Desire HD or Galaxy S = normal run of the mill kinda guy

iphone = white socks sandel wearing with a "pullover" kinder guy who needs to be taken care of.
I hope that helps.

The Build quality of my DHD is fantastic, and I'm not going to complain at a day of battery with heavy use....

You don't have a creaky sim card cover and gaps between the body and plastic panels? The rest of it's good quality, but I certainly wouldn't call it fantastic. The iPhone 4's build quality is better imo.

And I don't get a full day's heavy usage out of my dhd. Browsing gaming calling and testing for much of the day, and it won't last til I go to sleep. So that's less than fifteen hours on week days.

I don't have gaps or creaking... Prefer the aluminium body and the feel to the iPhone's plasticy feel. I also wonder why every iPhone I see is either in a case/bumper of some kind or it's polished exterior is covered in a million scratches.

Can't argue with the battery comments though, seem about right.

the iPhone's plasticy feel

most ridiculous comment in the ridiculous thread but sums it up really.

fair enough if people have a preferred phone but why do so many people in this section feel the need to make up problems about other phones

surely you should be touting your phones good points rather than shooting down problems that dont exist or that you have no experience of

You think the Desire HD looks rubbish

He's become a bit of a fanboy recently, bashing all other phones :p

His Android experience lies on an X10 though, which he defended to the ends of the earth when it is just about the worse flagship Android phone of them all by quite a margin.

Why?
What do you have that is so better?
I have a SGS but refer to it as a poor mans iPhone.
They both do exactly the same things but one does it a bit cheaper.
If you hate smartphones in general then fair enough.

Absolutely incorrect, just because something is a bit cheaper doesn't make it fit for a 'poor mans' comparison, there are plenty of people who would take an SGS over an iPhone 4 in a heartbeat.

Aesthetically, you are probably right though.

Not really, the 3GS does feel very plasticy. And before you ask, yes I have used one :p

The Iphone 4 on the other hand is a significant improvement.

i thought it was obvious we where discussing the 4 in this thread. i mean why bother comparing a year and a half + 3gs to things like the DHD , the 3gs was always poor imo (low res , bad camera)

I think you misunderstand the term 'poor mans'.
AC/DC were once called by the press a poor mans Status Quo and Queen were also called a poor mans Led Zeppelin.
A poor mans doesn't mean it is worse.

im afraid im a phone junkie. 3gs i was very happy with then went onto the sgs which i reckon was ace loved the phone only downer was poor gps, then went to dhd just could not get to grips with it then got the new nexus s nice phone but missed the samsung touchwiz, i now have omnia 7 and i love it i use it as my main phone and have iphone4 just for the apps. def worth looking into windows 7 phone tho

It feels plasticky because it is made of plastic, but I wouldn't say it was more so than any other phone.

an ipod touch would have been much cheaper if you don't use the phone part of the iphone :)

Well, the iPhone 4 doesn't feel plasticky at all. The Desire HD wouldn't either aside from the strange plastic bits all over it :p

I've got both the 4 and 3GS in front of me - the 3GS doesn't feel plasticky per se, but compared to the 4 it does.

I have to admit though - the Desire felt plasticky but well built. The iP4 certainly feels like it would break easier if dropped.
