Next door's builder dodgy brickwork

Red rag, nah. Red flag that the actual 'pro' doing the job might be a charlatan if he cant even use the right product for the job or even mix his own.
You're right, that's why I only use builders who refine their own cement and live near beaches for organic British sand.

SFAIK beach sand is not a great idea for concrete due to the salts in it. We get it that you don't mind slapdash, but people pay professionals expecting them to do a proper job. The OP shouldn't be having to worry about this stuff. A builder doesn't need to refine his own cement, simply to buy the right product off the shelf and mix it as the instructions. It's not difficult. I expect you would want that for your own 1930s refurb.

Y'all taking yourselves too seriously lol. It is too late now, the wall is up. We get it, there was a better marketed product for the job. Is Lee going to get the lad to knock it down and start again? Probably not.

I don't think anyone's suggested knocking it down?
Lee might not. Building inspector may make Lee.
If they're like the ones round here I would be surprised if they even check, and if they do I'd be surprised if they make them knock it down.

Its back to the lottery situation again with local councils.

I have had one go ott about it. I think his gripe was more to do with the developer I had and as such he went to town on my house.
(Was old house done up by developer who skipped / missed things)

did sound like it is significantly different (roller door/lintel/height) to previous posts (degraded in storm ?)
but, moreover, some kind of inspection to check that, without side supports, it couldn't blow over onto a pedestrian, seemed appropriate.
neighbours on right, looks like it is tied to side walls

The latter would be building control not planning. I thought the OP said it was getting tied into his side walls, just no joint across to the neighbours' walls?

Ironically the neighbors is the one that blew over.

Next doors is tied into the side shared wall but my new garage door wall is not tied into it.

The original plan was my new garage door wall was going to be tied into the side wall but their builder started a week before mine so got there first. Last time I heard my neighbour was having difficulty trying to find a builder to do their job so I wasn't expecting them to be getting it done a week before mine.

Next door have only basically done a repair job because the external wall at the other side of their gate opening which didn't fall down in the storm still remains. The bricks don't match and a lot of them have blown to pieces in the cold weather over the years. Maybe they couldn't afford to replace the lot.

yes OK I thought if there were planning permission needed that would imply a mandatory control, but otherwise it would be, undesirably, voluntary.

so (from planning permission angle) what had you had there in the past, if anything, during your residence ?
has the builder now said a tie in would be better.
