Next England Manager? Next England Captain?

Sam over Jurgen Klinsmann or Shearer?

I'd take LVG over Sam, despite what happened at ManU, for his international experience.

Good appointment. He won't be a yes man and may actually give players deserving of a chance a go, rather than the typical big club gets you picked mentality.

His first squad will tell us everything we need to know.

Fully expect Sterling to be in it.

lol, the FA.

Shambolic.

Zero experience at international level, zero experience of winning anything worthwhile, pretty much zero experience of managing big players. Yeah, I can totally see why the FA went with Big Sam.

Someone pointed out on another site that Joachim Low won nothing as a player or club manager and only played 4 times for West Germany. He was probably quite average before he took the job, but what a job he has done.

Funny in England we get all hung up on choosing a someone who must have international experience and must have won something. Is that because English players is so poor that some people expect a proven manager to perform miracles? That's not going to happen whoever manages them. English international football has bigger problems than the choice of manager.

Joachim Low was the assistant manager, so there's that. He was also fortunate in that he took over at a time when the German national squad was on the rise, they'd just finished 3rd at the World Cup.

We don't have that, quite the opposite in fact. To achieve something would in fact be a miracle, but who's more likely to perform that miracle? A manager with a winning track record, with international experience....or Sam Allardyce.

I love that Big Sam got the England job. We don't have the skill (we've seen that numerous times) we keep thinking with one or two (half) decent players we're Spain or Germany. We're not. Big Sam like he did at Bolton will get results, it might not be "total football" (or whatever nonsense term they use these days), but he'll get results. No diving around or crying like Ronaldo. But true British football, play hard, play our game and we'll win. Cracking appointment.

I kind of agree with this tbh.

So a manger who has pretty much spent his entire career fighting relegation is the best fit for the job, cracking appointment FA looks like international football will fall further and further behind club football.

as said above..first squad will tell you who is picking the team...the FA or the manager

if it has sterling or joe hart in it..then we know the FA are still calling the shots

You mean like all the other managers of the England team who have done an amazing job, especially the ones who have won silverware as a club manager

Big Sam has been grinding out results with lesser teams for years, imagine what he could do with some half decent players ;)

You think the FA demanded those players be picked? Who are these three English keepers that are better than Hart?

Hart doesn't deserve to be in the team, having to sit through adverts for shampoo at half time and then watching him fumble in a weak shot is just an embarrassment. Butland should be number 1, it's a shame he got injured during the warm up for the tournament.
