This, no doubt it's a very capable machine but compared to the iPad or even the Surface it has a cheap, even kind of toyish look about it (that goes for both the hardware and the software). But maybe it'll be different in person.

I'm sure that is fake. Its got to be. It just looks like a tweaked Note 10.1.

I thought Google actually designed there own Nexus's and got someone to build them. It looks too similar to the Note 10.1 to be believable.

Internals are to die for though.
 
The looks are one thing but it's really important that it feels quality in the hand. I said in the Kindle thread that the black almost rubberised back of the Fire HD just oozes quality and is perfect for a hand held device. It's better than plastic, it's better than metal, it doesn't even need a case because that stuff is hard as nails. Frankly it should be on the back of every phone and tablet made today. Unfortunately even Amazon had a brain fart moment and decided to put a stupid plastic strip across it, but I suppose you can't win them all.

Honestly I feel like Mugatu in Zoolander, like no-one notices what is so desperately missing from the iPad competitors and I'm taking crazy pills.

I couldn't agree more, I just know this Nexus 10 is going to have something about it that I hate. Google always seem to mess something up and there's clues in the photos already that lead me to believe they will this time around.

  • That back looks like the same crap plastic Samsung are renound for
  • The software looks like a step backwards in those photos, the navigation buttons are in the middle of the tablet? The middle of a 10.1" screen is hard to reach and they're going to put navigation buttons there?! Hopefully this is just beta software..

I love my Galaxy Nexus even though Google gimped out of the camera but it appears that the Nexus 4 is going to be gimped with 8Gb of storage at launch (if CPW are to be believed).
 
I wish Samsung would hire some of the HTC or Sony designers, they get so much right with the insides yet so much wrong with the exteriors of pretty much all their recent devices! :(

Either way this will look much better with better pictures so I don't think it will be as bad as it currently looks.
 
Nice specs, looks awful. Why do I have a feeling the huge bezel has something to do with distancing themselves from the iPad appearance?

I don't think people realise that they're looking at part of the screen that's black, rather than the bezel being that thick.

I'm not buying the sAMOLED rumour, but I would absolutely love for it to be true. You can't beat the look of a sAMOLED display, dat high dynamic range.

Its not like Samsung can't design, just look at the Series 9 laptop, arguable the best looking and feeling laptop on the market. Phones like the Omina 7 and Wave 2 are also very well designed, sold at good prices and use great materials.
