Anyone got 4.4. running yet? Still no update here. I downloaded the zip file myself and put it in my root folder, but in recovery it doesn't seem to do anything, and I can't be bothered looking into it.

Just got a small 1.14mb update:

All it did was change the build number from KRT16O to KRT16S. I'm guessing it's just mostly bug fixes...

As for the transparent bars, people on XDA seems to report it's laggy with GEL but completely fine with the latest Nova beta. So... Google must be doing something wrong... but it also must mean they are testing GEL on other devices

They didn't remove it, it was moved to the wifi icon in the toggles. Apparently it was confusing people on what it meant.

They removed it from the status bar - where it's most useful

. Especially on mobile data.

Look in the quick settings, if the icons are orange, then you have a problem.

Agreed. Although I think I also read that it had an impact on performance because they were constantly having to update the UI.

its fair enough now i know where it was, but i miss it as it gave me an indication that my crappy virgin media was down again and i should switch to 3g or i wont get any emails

Blue (now white with 4.4) meant that it was connected to Google services. Grey/orange means it was connected to the internet, but not to the Google services.

I know but it was handy looking up at the top corner and seing between blue and grey.
