*** Nexus 10 Tablet ***

Really impressed with the N10. Didn't expect it to be much faster than the N7 but it is. The screen is absolutely gorgeous and I think it looks and feels great, quality product.

Anyone on the fence, and buy it if you are can.

I can tell you that from messing about ff is faster or equal to chrome on my xoom 2 in most cases.

The only real problem is the color banding in images which seems to be a reported bug.

There are a few things that annoy me about chrome, it is pretty great as a phone browser but i feel it is inadequate for a larger screen power use. Things like not refreshing a page when you click refresh and when you switch tabs and the tab goes all grey. The major problem is having the highest resolution tablet screen ever and having to view everything as if im in 800x600.

Call me blind but where is the home button on Firefox and how do I set homepage to Google?

scrolling is very slow to.

Apparently the 16GB received more stock in the US. Perhaps there will be a new shipment in the UK sooner rather then later for those wanting this.

A good tip for those wanting one download the Chrome extension "Page Monitor" and set it up to monitor this page every 5 minutes or so for changes. Or change it to the 32GB page if you want that one.
 
Would the american version work in england?

I have a friend who lives over there an is coming to england soon, was wondering if it would be worth getting him to pick me one up.

Are they in stock in america?
 
No reason they wouldnt work here, it's just a wifi device. You would just need a UK plug adapted if you want to charge it from the mains.

According to a few websites they have been in stock today not sure if they still have some, might be worth getting your mate to check.

I don't think the warranty is valid in Europe, I read on XDA that only European models are valid in England.

If anyone wants the firefox settings to zoom pages back out let me know and I'll put them together. I really do like pages at a reasonable size rather than zoomed as far in as possible all the time.

Flash and stylish extension help a whole lot too. Im using the firefox beta atm, the main version was constantly crashing for me.

You need to grab the flash apk from somewhere since it won't appear on the play store, and then a third party browser that will allow the use of flash. Someone linked a hack to get flash working with the default browser but I can't remember what the link was :(.

Well I abandoned any other tweaks as they didn't seem to make much difference, the setting to change to zoom out...

type about:config

Change the setting browser.viewport.desktopWidth to 1280, or larger/smaller depending on how far out/in you want to zoom.
 
What's the best way to get movies onto the n10 via WiFi? Tried Google drive but the movie took bloody hours and the quality on the other end looked like a vhs.
 
You mean to copy permanently or to stream over wifi?

For streaming I use serviio on the PC and Bubble UPNP on the tablet.

Permanently I wouldn't recommend anything, there's not really a solution for large files and if a transfer fails you've got a whole nother problem.

Looking at this as a potential Christmas present, just a few questions;

for children to watch movies, e.g. car journey - how memory intensive are they, will a few be able to be stored on the device, if not where do people normally store them?

Can I purchase a movie to be viewed on several devices within the family?

When are these likely to be in the High Street??!!

Specialist: Ok my supervisor has dug deeper and you did not get back-ordered, yours should be shipped within 12 hours.

Me: Wtf...ok but can I change my del address?

Specialist: No I'm afraid not.

Me: Well that's not helpful, oh well.

Specialist: Anything else I can help you with?

Me: (He has an odd definition for help) No thanks

Specialist: Ok can you do a brief survey to rate my performance?

Me: (You have got to be kidding) No sorry I don't have the time. Cheers, bye.

Further update to this post:

Called google play as evidently my order did not ship within the promised 12 hours and have been informed that my order has in fact not been shipped (Really?!). He was a tad vague but said it could potentially be due to inventory...*sigh* Anyway, it's been escalated to a 'shipping' adviser and I should have a response within 24 hours (Yh right).
 
Seriously craving this thing now, constantly checking the play store in the hope that it will be restocked. I presume there's no more news on when they'll be back?
