Nexus 5 2015 refresh

I hope so. If its same / similar weight to the N5 then happy days. No need for pointless steel / glass on the outside of a phone... just adds weight and makes it easier to break.

A mental band is all you need, next to zero weight penalty yet adds that feel of solidity. Yep... A glass back is just full of fail.

I'm guessing the 5x is all plastic build.

Wasn't there mention of a brushed metal back?

You mean a high end phablet and a high end tablet?

The N9 is far from high end. It's an oversized N5 with a cheap flexing back. Everything prior to the 6 and 9 were absolute bargains. The 6 and 9 tried to jump to premium at a premium price and failed.

Yeah because anything that flexes automatically makes it cheap.

Who says they failed? Sales are not what the Nexus line are about

The N5 has a cheap flexing back, but it was cheap so that's fine. The N9 is not cheap.

I'm pretty certain sales volumes were quite important... After all they moved from 7" to 9" for the tablet due to struggling sales at the lower screen size (although due to the massive competition more than a poor device).

The 5X being cheap would mean a U turn in the direction Google have taken the Nexus line in, and I just can't see it. In a world where people will pay £600+ for an iPhone, why would they even try and be cheap any more?

Samsung seem to be the benchmark for a flagship phone, and the S6 starts at £500.

(On a side note, I just fainted at £830 for an S6 Edge + 64GB!!! What the hell happened!!!)

Google admitted they got it wrong with the size and price of the N6 last year and sales weren't as good as a result. The 5X will be more inline with the 5's pricing than the 6's, Google would be stupid do try and price it any higher tbh especially with a bigger device with better specs from Huawei due at the same time.

But sales arent what the Nexus is about, doncha know ;) :p

In seriousness you'd be a brave man to try and call the N6 a success. The smallest Nexus device available being the largest Android phone on the market was a mistake.

They said sales were sluggish. I didn't see anything about the size or price being wrong. And as far as I'm concerned, the Nexus 6 is a belter of a handset. Wouldn't change it for anything currently on the market.

There's even another article on how Google couldn't keep up with demand for the Nexus 6. So there you go.

If you build 1 a year but get 2 orders you wouldnt be able to keep up with demand. :p

That statement means nothing without context.

True but it's not like Google only sold a handful did they. And there's plenty of people that are happy with their Nexus 6. Just because it didn't suit your needs, you automatically deem it a failure?

I never said the 6 was a bad phone.

The only needs it doesn't fill is the need to have room in one pocket and no hole in the other :p.
