Nexus 5 leaked

I currently have the original Galaxy Nexus (running CyanogenMod rom), and my contract is up on the 31st October with Three.

Seriously thinking about holding out for the Nexus 5, as I'm not sure what other phone comes close to the Nexus/Nexus 5. Only other phone I think I might consider is the Galaxy S4.

Good call, wait to see what the camera and kit kat have to say then make your choice between the two.

If you could get the LG G2 for £360 would you wait for the Nexus 5 or get the G2 ? Wife's gonna have my HONE and I was thinking of getting the G2 (The only problem I have is the 16gb storage)

G2 will be rooted anyway so stock android is not an issue its the price that I am not sure about N5 might be much cheaper. Although my experience from the N4 launch tells me I won't be able to get N5 anytime soon (stock issues).

This is looking more and more interesting. The G2 has excellent battery life so having a phone that has ~76% of that battery life would be good enough. Plus a higher PPI display than the G2 and a 800 processor is a good combination, especially coming from a galaxy nexus.

Kind of excited about this.

Gona be due an upgrade in the next month or so. Will go for S4 or this.

Do companies like 3 offer contacts for the Nexus devices, or can you only buy the handset through Google and other 3rd parties?

Yes, but you lose out on the fact that Nexus devices are normally cheaper than mainstream phones of similar spec so you'll end up paying the same on contract as you would for a more expensive handset.

they could have put a bigger battery in, for sure. 2600-2800mAh at least.

my current phone has 4000mAh (standard, not one of those extended ones that look like the phone has got tumour on the back) and I like it very muchly.

So the Nexus 5 is rumoured to have a battery with 200mAh more than the Nexus 4. Is the chip running the Nexus 5 going to be more energy efficient than that of the Nexus 4? Just wondering how much longer the battery will last on the Nexus 5 than on the Nexus 4.

You not going to notice any difference on ppi on this over the g2 , having a htc one i can't notice any difference in this department over the g2 even though it's a smaller screen.

battery life however the g2 is something else compared to any I had , I been to work today so not been used mega but am 23 hours on this charge and still have 73% battery, I would be in 30's on any other phone.

One of the things Qualcomm promised would come with Snapdragon 800 (8974) (and by extension the process improvement with 28nm HPM) was lower power consumption, especially versus Snapdragon 600 (8064). There are improvements throughout the overall Snapdragon 800 platform which help as well, newer PMIC (PM8941) and that newer modem block onboard as well, but overall platform power goes down in the lower performance states for Snapdragon 800.

Hoping that the combination of the S800 and a much lighter/cleaner skin means the phone still gets decent battery life even with a 30% smaller battery. I doubt it will be as good as the G2 but if its close then I am more then happy.

I saw something about the Qualcomm QFE1100 being in the Nexus 5 which has something called Envelope Tracking which is supposed to make the 3G/4G radio much more power efficient so hopefully that should lead to more improvements in battery life.

Yes the Note 3 has this - not sure if it's part of the S800 based SoC or an extra.

Juicy tip above - would love for it to be true - 3000mAh 32gb - £248 wooooot!

I can't believe the prices in the article will be any where close to be honest, but here's to hoping. I would expect that the 32GB will be closer to £350 than £250.
