Nexus 5 leaked

Nexus 5 16GB for £249? Unlikely... £299 is more likely in my opinion.

Why would it be more expensive than the Nexus 4?

Look at what the new Nexus 7 was released at. Lower price point for the 16GB version.

The rumour is very likely going by the track record.

At the very least it'll be at the same price. I don't see Google pricing it higher.

Nexus 4 8GB was $299.

Nexus 5 16GB will be $299.

I genuinely want to believe that the camera sensor it self wasn't too bad.. the software optimization is what seems to suck when ever it comes to stock android cameras..

Not really, the Google play editions of the s4 and HTC one both offer almost identical pictures, outside of missing features like zeos and so on. I think it was just a bad sensor.

They still aren't as good at a basic quality level as ones taken with the camera software built into touchwiz or sense though.
Which points at the stock android camera optimization being pretty bad.

Also, the google play editions still have the software modifications of touchwiz/sense (i.e. under the bonnet stuff).

IIRC is the htc one quality not much worse compared to a sense based version?

But yes, it is a combination of both things, not great hardware and poor software.

Nexus devices have always been pretty poor compared to the other devices i.e. nexus s compared to galaxy s, galaxy nexus compared to gs 2, nexus 4 compared to lg optimus so I am not holding out much hope for the nexus 5 camera :(

With 4.2.2 that was true (you could use the Sense camera on the One GPe) but with 4.3 it canged.

There may well still be some framework left, but it's less than it was upon release.

From all the reviews I have seen there almost identically, not really much difference. I do agree that the Nexus 4 could be better with just software, but a lot can. The screen wasn't calibrated either, Google was just lazy. The Nexus 7 2013 having the best android tablet screen gives me a lot of hope, I read they calibrated it twice to ensure it was perfect.

The Nexus 4 and GN both had cameras a lot worse then their counter parts cause Google just didn't see much value in it. But they have been hyping up the Nexus 5 camera so it should at least be equal to the G2.

No ones been hyping the camera in the Nexus 5 because it hasn't even been announced yet, what we have is a lot of conjecture based on some alleged leaks.

If the current leaks are to be believed, the Nexus camera situation isn't going to improve with the Nexus 5. Here's what we can be 90% confident of so far:

  • The Nexus 5 won't have MEMS camera module, DigitalOptics have confirmed that Oppo will be the first OEM to bring a phone to market using their technology
  • The whole MEMS rumour came from a leak that outlined the name of the sensor in the device (IMX179). So it still stands that the IMX179 is still being used, just not as part of a MEMS module. The IMX179 is not a BSI sensor and f/2.4 - not exactly a good start

Paul O'Brien recently tweeted something along the lines of "remember, remember the 1st November #Nexus5"

That would mean someone other than Apple realises it's actually a good thing to release products relatively quickly after you've announced them

I'll believe it when it happens, and I hope it does!

The chromecast dongle was available to purchase the day it was announced earlier this year. Same again with the N5?
