For all intents and purposes even though Moto are owned by Google, they should be looked at as 2 totally separate companies.

nexus will have the latest android for + top end spec + its stock android.

camera may or may not be as good as the motox(too early to tell obviously)

You've got to remember though not everyone likes stock android, a lot of people like the little extras the OEMs build into their frameworks.

Yeah, to be fair Motorola have done quite a good job with their version. But still, new version of Android = better than everything else ever ever

Why can't the device just become available and be done with it? The media will do the necessary promotion.

From a few of the comments/rumours (and lack of an event, even for a livestream like the G+ one they'd want a good few hours notice, assuming it is today in 52 minutes...) I get the impression they're almost doing the release like PC hardware, get devices into the hand of media under NDA and then just lift the NDA at a set time, no need to put on an event that only a tiny fraction of buyers will care about...

Last year there was an announcement due and it was cancelled last minute because of the hurricane. This year they did an announcement + talk for the relatively boring N7 2013 and Android 4.3. So that's why, but I can't see one happening now.

Maybe nobody has told Google they are launching it, perhaps LG just shipped it off to the shops. I mean communication between the two seemed pretty bad last time.

there is no way it can be launching without an announcement weeks before hand.

i'm thinking there is a serious issue with the phone and they are trying to fix it through software

I doubt lg did anything before they got paid for the handsets..... Google would have instructed them.

There's no way they would have shipped them out if it was that serious and there's still weeks before release.
