*** Nexus 7 2nd Gen thread ***

I'll give they a go later ...

Hmm but the touch screen doesn't work. I'll have a look round to see is there's a magic key press that'll do it.

It's ALWAYS had issues with the touch screen, it was fine web browsing, but you could forget trying to type on it, should have returned it the first day I got it. :/

I was teaching my neighbour how to use their new hudl, it was only then I realised just how bad my N7 was.

Can anyone help, my nexus 7 2013 has a dodgy charge port. I'm having to charge wirelessly at the moment

Was going to do a repair but can see the price of the charge port and PCB is around £45 for the part on eBay? Yet 2012 model charge port and PCB is like £5, surely this can't be right? Isn't newer component replacements supposed to be cheaper ?

Can get the port itself for a couple of quid but fitting it will require some fairly good soldering skills, otherwise it'll be cheaper to buy a broken one that has something else wrong with it by the looks of it.

Iv taken the back off, the charge port was loose, I can see where the prongs go through, iv put the prongs in but nothing happens. Cant see any original solder anywhere. Weird

Edit. Yes I can, Jesus there tiny! Yeh no way I could solder that . Not without melting the solder next to it

Not unless you just rest it on the pins

Need to use a air soldering iron. Or attempt to bodge with a heatgun.

Only thing iv got is an iroda 50 gas soldering iron with a sort of mini heat attachment / mini blowtorch attachment

Can't you just rest the pins on the new connector and put a tiny bit or solder on?

How will an air soldering iron work or heat gun ?

Thought i fixed nexus 7 charge portby soldering but ita not working. Recognises the charger but doesnt charge.

Cant belive you have to pay £40 for a new module when the older gen you can pick them up for a fiver!

Probably a daft question, but how does a Linx 8 running Windows 10 compare to a Nexus 7 for basic web browsing, Facebook, Twitter, Netflix etc? These new budget windows tablets seem to pack a lot of bang per buck.
