has anyone got the desire rom? Think its alpha 10 now. Whats your thoughts?

I've been running the NexDesire Rom. All seems to be running perfectly well, very nice interface it has too. The only issue I have is that for some reason some apps don't show up in the market place, like 'barcode scanner' for example. Aside from that it's bloody nice.

I've run most of the alpha roms now, I love the widgets and some of the apps, HTC music, for instance is much better than stock. I could never get the friend-stalker widget working, it only synced with my Flickr, not Facebook  Also I managed to break the market on everything from 7 up, woops. I THINK that was because the rom is too large to fit many other apps on the same partition, so getting apps2sd may have solved that. It's nice to have a play with, but, having used it as a day to day OS for a week, I won't be putting the official Desire rom on my phone.

There are only 4 things I really would like from the Desire:
- Flash 10.1
- Get the Nexus's in built radio working (gsm arena were wrong, it has the radio hardware, just nothing to use it)
- 720p video recording
- Some of the widgets. This can't happen however, as all of sense will need to be on my phone for that to happen....

People at xda and modaco are working on the first 3, but the 4th isn't possible without some serious work :(

@Microwave: Nice pics. Got mine on the Monday and it's great. Was downloading apps and playing so much I still haven't even transferred all my contacts over yet :-).

@Stormer66: Can't you pick it up?

Has anyone got the 3G/MMS APN settings for O2?

I'm a simplicity, 30day tariff.

I've tried nearly every combination of settings that I've found on the internet.

I can get 3G working but not MMS.

If anyone has them BOTH working could you please post up your settings, it's doing my head in!

Can you not request O2 to send you one of those texts with the settings? That happened automatically for me when I changed my SIM into a new phone last time but maybe it hasn't picked up for you.

I tried that in the carphone warehouse but the text wouldn'd come through.

I asked o2 to email me the set up instructions but they sent me ones for the HTC HD2 which is windows mobile *facepalm*.

I need the settings to manually put in. They should be the same for all android phones.

Just to add to the Desire vs N1 debate, remember that the N1 is a google device, and the desire is not. So when a new version of android comes out the N1 will likely get it very quickly compared to the desire.

An example is the HTC Hero, still on Android 1.5.

I have had a similar issue with MMS. Not sure if you are having the same problem or not but I have heard that the nexus does not automatically resize pictures for use in MMS texts. I could receive them but I could not send them because the pics were too big to go through Vodafone's service centre.

Have you tried getting an MMS sent to you?

Here's my MMS settings, although as I'm currently in the middle of nowhere I can't verify if they're working or not.If they're different than your existing ones you can try them out I guess.
